The Twist is made of 100% Silicone, and lives up to the quality we've come to expect from a Tantus toy. It is hypo-allergenic, latex free, and phthalates free. It does have a bit of a masculine vibe to it, so it may not appeal to those seeking a pretty or girly toy.
Black and with a velvety matte finish, the Twist feels great to the touch. There is little to no drag when you run your finger over the surface of the toy. It has no odor or taste. The bulb with the twisting texture has a bit of flex, but the thickness of the silicone gives it a bit of firmness. The neck and base, where the toy is thinner, have a great deal of flex; they can easily be folded in half. There is a very slight visible seam running down either side of the toy, but it is not felt at all during use.
The Twist does tend to collect dust or hair, so be sure to give it a quick rinse before you use it to ensure it is clean and ready for play.
The Twist consists of three sections: the bulb portion that is inserted, the neck and the base.
The corkscrew bulb portion is roughly 3" in length, and just shy of 1 1/2" in diameter. A large ridge curves around the toy 6 times, giving it the appearance and feel of a corkscrew. It provides a great deal of texture when inserted. Once it's inserted, it's large enough to give you a sense of fullness, but in a comfortable forgiving way. A beginner to anal play may find the Twist too much to handle, but intermediate anal players will most likely welcome the challenge and unique sensation this plug provides.
The neck is 1" in length and very flexible. It provides enough stability to support you pushing on the base to insert the Twist. The neck is 3/4" in diameter, so it is significantly smaller than the corkscrew portion of the toy. Because of that difference in size, and because of the texture of the toy itself, the Twist stays in very well. Even with changing positions and walking around, the Twist stays put.
The base is very flexible and bendy. It measures 3 inches long and 7/8" wide. The two wings of the base are quite thin and bend very easily. They sit nicely against you and conform to the curves of your body.
After warming up with some smaller toys, and a lot of lubrication, this toy was very fun to play with. Because of the size, I wouldn't recommend jumping right to the Twist unless you know you can handle toys with this diameter and amount of texture. I enjoyed the sensation of the toy being rotated as it was inserted, and it was comfortable being in place during other sexual activities. The base is small and flexible enough to be unobtrusive, but large enough to give you confidence that it won't go anywhere you don't want it to. The tip has a bit of a point to it, so some positions may lead to a bit of a poking sensation, but it isn't a very long plug so it won't cause trouble for most users in that department.
The base does not have a suction cup, so it can't be attached to hard surfaces and will need to be inserted by hand. The shape of the base isn't compatible for use in a harness, either. This isn't an issue because the Twist isn't really a toy that is comfortable to vigorously thrust. Even users that enjoy a lot of texture will most likely want to take it slow when moving this toy in and out, or place it in and leave it there.
As it is 100% silicone, the Twist is easy to care for. It can be cleaned with soap and water or with your favorite toy cleaner. You can sterilize the Twist by boiling it for three minutes, or washing it on the top rack of your dishwasher. You could also wipe the toy down with a 10% bleach solution, if you prefer, to sterilize it.
Be sure to use only water based lubricants with the Twist, as silicone based lubes will damage silicone toys. To store it, you will want to avoid contact with other silicone toys, to avoid damage to the toys as well. It could be stored in its original packaging or a toy storage pouch.
The Twist comes in the standard Tantus packaging. There is an outer clear plastic package, with the Tantus logo and some information about the toy printed on it. Inside that package, there is a form fitting clear plastic holder for the toy itself. I wouldn't call it discreet, as you can clearly see the toy inside, but it is fairly classy.
There is minimal information included with the toy, and no pamphlet or paper insert. The side of the box advises that if you have any questions regarding care or cleaning, you should visit Tantus' website.
The package really isn't suitable for gifting, but could be used for storing the toy. It does take up quite a bit more room than the toy itself, so if space is an issue, you might want to consider storing it elsewhere.
