Summary: Back on the Ropes is the second book in the Two Knotty Boys' rope tying series that's just as good, if not better, than the first. The Two Knotty Boys really know their craft, and they show it, in a step-by-step, comprehensive instructional guide that's beautifully designed. Each page has at least one lovely photo, and all steps are written in such a way that it's very easy to be engaged and interested.

- Two Knotty Boys: Back on the Ropes is written by - you guessed it - the Two Knotty Boys, JD and Dan. They are very experienced in rope bondage, as well as the BDSM lifestyle, and this is actually the second book of theirs in the rope bondage tying series. Not only have they written two books about rope tying, but they also have a YouTube account with videos for those that like to hear and see it being done as opposed to reading the technique.
All of the images in this book are photographed by Ken Marcus, who does a wonderful job of capturing the scenes and the rope tying instructions.

- This is a book for more advanced rope enthusiasts. Their other book, Two Knotty Boys: Showing You the Ropes, is very short and simple - it's mainly for those just starting out. Back on the Ropes, on the other hand, was made for those that crave more than just simple sailors' knots - this is for people who do bondage often, and that want to learn how to tie higher level knots.
The book has a Table of Contents at the beginning, and a large image on the left that was most likely in the same photo shoot with the image on the cover. Then there are a few more pages, with acknowledgments, a foreword, and rope bondage safety tips that are very useful. The body of the book is about 114 pages long, and after that comes a glossary and a page about the Two Knotty Boys.
There are seven different sections of knots, including The Knots (basic knots), Clever Tricks, Unique Iterations, Decorative Applications, Maximum Exposure Ties, Intermediate Harnesses, and Advanced Harnesses. Some of my favorite techniques from the book are the rope collar (that's simply gorgeous when tied), the cross-armed bow knot (a pair of cuffs and lead), the hair corset (which is what it sounds like—a corset for a pony-tail), and the t-back, which combines a couple of different techniques together to make a firmly postured submissive. They also include strap-on harnesses, corsets, and other decorative ties. Altogether, there are over 70 different techniques.
The Two Knotty Boys write in a humorous, but serious, tone of voice, and they make it easy-to-read for all types people. Every now and then, they'll drop a line or two that are funny, which kept my attention. I will say that the font is fairly small, but it's still readable.

- Every instructional guide is laid out with a name of what will be tied, a paragraph description, and an image of the finished product. The Two Knotty Boys also include how much rope will be needed, and the diameter of the rope. They then continue on to rope tying, with a picture for each step and a little description of the step underneath. The entire book is in color.
Back on the Ropes is about the size of a magazine, only thicker and with a firmer cover. The cover has a matte finish, so it's very smooth to the touch and easy to hold. The pages are all photograph-quality, thin paper that's cut evenly. It's very classy, and attractive.

- I own their first book, Two Knotty Boys: Showing You the Ropes, and I can definitely say that this is not only a step-up in reading quality, but in physical book quality. It's simply gorgeous.
If you'd like to see a couple of pictures that I took of the book, you can view them here on my blog: Sir's blog post

Experience

- This is the type of rope bondage book that even if you're not following its instructions, it's just a good book to read with your legs propped up on someone's back. It's not intimidating for those that are newer to rope tying, but it's definitely intimidating for people to see in another's hands. I love this book, and I am glad to now have it on my shelf.
The best thing to do is to read it over a couple of times, get used to the ropes, practice them, and then think of ways to combine a few favorites to make a wonderful scene. The Two Knotty Boys give the basics, and it's up to the person doing the ropes to decide what they'll do from that point forward.

"Back on the Ropes" is the Two Knotty Boys' second book about rope bondage. If you're a rope enthusiast, you will probably find some unique things in here. If you're just getting started, this book might intimidate you! However, the instructions are clear and the photos are really helpful.

Back on the Ropes is a good sequel to the Two Knotty Boy's first book. The full-color approach makes it look much nicer and much easier to follow along with the ties.

I think this book is worth the price and an essential for any kinkster's book collection just because even if has a bit of a learning curve for those not super-enthusiastic about learning how to tie it can prove to be a popular book among contacts and friends. I however would not recommend it to those that have little patience and motivation to learn or that simply want to get tied up by others unless that's who you're buying this for of course.

An excellent guide for novice AND advanced rope bondage fans. Well-written, succinct, and beautifully illustrated with more than 70 rope bondage ties and techniques.
