Overview

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana's quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too-but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success-his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family-Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

    • Bleh not worth reading
    • I don't understand why, out of all of the great erotica in the world, this book had the privilege of introducing the concept of BDSM to the masses.
    • I've heard about this book, but still not sure. Will have to think on it some more.
    • 50 shades of FAIL. I mean no offence, but in my opinion only someone who's never read erotica before and doesn't know the first thing about BDSM might possibly like this. :( What completely inexperienced (!!) James so heavy-handedly describes is the opposite of BDSM. It's abuse. Please read at least ONE respectable book before you do anything harsh. (such as write a review, or enter an unhealthy "relationship" with a sad controlling bastard :))
    • I have read the whole series. I love them all! I don't think of this book just about BDSM I see an abused child trying to understand himself. Christian has a very dark and painful past with his childhood and the only way he feels *safe* is as a control freak. Anastasia sweet and innocent girl..Christian sees as a comfort. Hell yeah the sex scenes are fun and make your inner goddess what some freakishly fun sex. Are the sex scenes far fetched could be but who knows for sure to each there own. As I finished each book I wanted more. Yes the writing was repetitive but those who are control freaks follow a routine and words like laters baby are a *control* for them..
    • awesome
    • 50 shades of Embarrassed. This is a very dangerous and unhealthy portrait of bdsm. A person offers their submission..not be coerce by a dangerous control freak. He is abusive and a manipulator, period. It may open the door of BDSM to the vanilla world but get properly informed before doing anything. And never sign a contract without lots play time with someone you took the time to know.
    • A classic story between an abusive arsehole and a dimwit with no sexual experience whatsoever. For anyone who wants to get into an actual BDSM relationship, look elsewhere for literature, because E.L. James fails to capture any realism in this Twilight rip-off.
    • I loved this book! The writing wasn't top notch, but I thought the story line was great and it was very sexy.
    • I'd really like to order this book. i hope you get more in stock soon....

    • Um.
    • not my type of book
    • curious
    • :)
    • I need to jump on this 50 shades bandwagon!
    • Nice... :)
    • my mom wants me to buy this book for her.....
    • Christian is hot. that is all i have to say
    • Good to see there are others who don't like this book! I've only read a bit of a friend's copy and thought it was atrocious!
    • Honestly, I feel a little disappointed whenever I see a good adult store selling this book. The relationship between the two characters is abusive and riddled with consent issues. It's a bad, bad portrayal of BDSM and kink, and it's not something I think should be promoted.
    • Actually I enjoyed this first novel! It make me think a little bit Anne Rice's The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, whom was a really great novel in BDSM! Actually I read the book in my bedroom and alone... A great book, and I can't wait for reading the other 2 books...
    • Please come back soon
    • Im curious...
    • I have finished the first book and currently reading the second one. Christian Grey is a entrepreneur with a twisted past that leads to him having bdsm fetishes. The first book took a very long time to get into, I believe nothing interesting happened until chapter 12 or somewhere around there. I'm currently into my second book, so far it's pretty good I just wish their escapes were a bit longer. He sounds like a minute man to me but If your into bdsm this book is good for you but if not you can honestly do better. Zane is a really good author
    • I really enjoyed this book. It may not be the best written quality or just aiming to be a fanfiction for the twilight series but in my opinion the book was very good.
    • sounds like a fun read.
    • Drivel.

Please buy Tiffany Riesz's THE SIREN instead. Or something in the Marketplace series. Even the Anne Rice BEAUTY series is better. So bad.
    • A friend of mine posted a question on Facebook, "Have any lesbians read Fifty Shades of Grey and what did you think?" That got me to thinking. Hmm...with all the articles I've read about the dramatic increase in sex toy sales, and people referring to it as "Mommy Porn", maybe there is something a lesbian could learn from the book. It was only $9.99 for my Kindle, so I figured what the heck, let's see what all the fuss is. • Wanna read
    • Cant wait to read
    • why?
    • The style of writing is what you would expect to see in a Young Adult novel. In the first book at least, there seemed to be more "talk" about sex than actual sex. The book was okay, but won't win any awards!
    • Horridly badly written. It is very obvious, from the start, that this book started out as a fanfiction for the Twilight series. The sex scenes (claimed to be "super hot") leave me absolutely cold. For anyone who wishes to read wellwritten fanfiction smut, I recommend going to a website like ff.net or the like instead.
    • have on my ereader want to add to the shelf
    • I have heard alot of good and bad about this one
    • I'm glad this only has three stars on Eden.
    • interesting
    • Not the best romance/erotic novel I've read and not the worst. But I'll admit that I couldn't put it down so I give it a 4 out of 5. If your expectations are high and you're looking for a quick (and naughty) read than this should be just fine. :)

Terrible. Get an anthology by Rachel Kramer Bussel instead.
    • If you're new to erotic fiction and you really want something with a light smattering of sex combined with a good storyline then this is totally for you. I don't think it was as heavy on the BDSM aspect that I was hoping it would be. I was looking forward to a book that really pushed the limits but this one fell slightly short. I liked the storyline but I think the erotic aspect of it could have been developed more.
    • Might be pretty good!!

    • Can't wait to read
    • My wife is loving these books. I am very pleased.
    • I'm glad to see an erotic novel top the bestseller lists; unfortunately, this is almost the worst possible choice. It's like the KFC famous bowl being named the national food of America: we can do better.
    • It is not as good as everyone I talked to said
    • loved this book cant wait to get my hands on the second one!
    • Actually one of the worst books I've ever read. Fifty thumbs down.
    • good read to get some new ideas with your partner. wouldreccomend it to someone who likes erotic books.
    • I've heard a lot of different things
    • Awesome books. I wish there were more.
    • I enojyed this book very much!
    • I hope to find a used copy in Amazon just in case it's too cheesy or boring for me, If not, I won't feel a great loss not reading it. I was a major Xaviera Hollander fan so it has to be at least close to that to keep my attention.
    • Shame this isn't better :(
    • THIS BOOK SHOULD NOT EXIST.
    • No desire to read this at all.
    • Nope.
    • Heard so much about this
    • i think these are great books and its the first time i have read anything about this kind of stuff, i just want to know that they are going to do next its so crazy, but interesting
    • I loved reading this book.
    • i will have to read it
    • Reading it now, the writing is a little cheesy, and its not the most accurate portrayal of bdsm, but regardless of all that I am really enjoying it as a fictional story and find myself relating to the main character. Looking forward to reading number 2 and 3 after :)
    • Reading this currently! :P
    • I wish I even had the words to articulate how much I hated this book.
    • I think this is going on my wish list
    • I bought it read it in less than 24 hours, read the 2nd book immediately but didn't care too much for the third one. It got me very interested in some new "play" now if I could just convince my husband.
    • Lot of hype about the book I must read it!!
    • I've heard so much about this! I don't like to read but I may have to read this book! :)
    • Damn it, I'm so curious about this book since everyone keeps talking about it...I guess I'll have to get it one day.
    • LOVE this book! Whole Series is incredible!
    • Just finished the first one. It was really good!
    • Our local library has over 600 holds on this for 87 copies!!!
    • I keep hearing so much about this book, I'm curious.
    • want
    • This NEEDS to come back in stock! I need to order this for a couple of people....
    • I liked it despite the unrealistic-ness of how it. I liked the suspense.
    • Wow...I've heard SO much about this!
    • Loved it!
    • hope this is as good as everyone's talkin about, it's all i hear... may have to give it a try
    • It's not too bad. Especially when you consider it started out as fanfiction lol
    • I'm interested to see what the hoopla is about.
    • I read this book and sadly I hated it. I thought it was a terrible story line, and could put BDSM in a bad light to the general public. I don't understand the whole fad that it helps your sex life mine remained thethesameexacsamesame.
    • tripe tripe tripe
    • AMAZING book! I recommend it to anyone. The second book, "Fifty Shades Darker," was equally as great. The third book in the series does not compare to the first two. Fifty Shades of Grey is thrilling, graphic, and descriptive. A great read.
    • Horrible. Just horrible.
    • As if Twilight wasn't enough of a blight on the literary world, we are now subjected to the media sensationalism of really bad, faux-BDSM Twilight FanFic. Ick. A better use of your time: http://50shadesofsuck.tumblr.com/
    • Worst thing I've ever laid eyes on...*sigh* It tortures me (in a bad way) that this is so popular.
    • I'm reading this book right now. Hope it's as good as everyone is saying it is!
    • Nice!
    • It's ok. I've read better.
    • Sounds interesting
    • Love that they are selling this book !:)
    • cant wait until this becomes available.
    • I want to get this. Will it be back in stock?
    • thinking aobut writing a review.
    • Read it, on book two now. My thoughts have changed some, thinking of writing a review on this.
    • Work just sold out of this. I'm curious to see what all the hype is about! I opened the book briefly at work and the first thing I saw was "anal fisting". Any book that mentions that that can get mainstream attention has me curious :)
    • i new this would happen! can't wait!
    • Should've seen this coming..
    • Can't wait till this becomes available.
    • Sounds interesting!
    • I LOVE THAT EF IS GOING TO BE CARRYING THIS!! I already own it, but I'm glad!
    • Awesome to see this on here! My soon-to-be-mother-in-law is reading it, and I will read hers soon and totally review them. So appealing.
    • Ha, I knew this was coming!
    • I've heard so much about this book, I'm looking forward to a REAL review!
    • I was wondering when this would turn up on Eden!
