Good morning!!!
I just saw your post in the Forums on the poo free thread. I think we have the same hair type; horribly fine and straight. And so oily after one day not washing.
I found that using the baking soda was just not enough to control everything, and I discovered that my hair worked better with shampoo. So I posted this,
That sounds exactly like my hair!!!!
What I've found works the best for my hair, and the VERY hard water we have here is:
Take two squeeze bottles
In one bottle add a very healthy squeeze (but not too healthy mind you) of shampoo and in the other, conditioner.
Fill up with water and shake shake shake.
In the shampoo bottle, add in some peppermint essential oil, lavender essential oil, rosemary essential oil (for darker hair) or cammomile essential oil (for lighter hues). Shake shake shake. I use lots of peppermint in the summer, probably about a teaspoon worth.
In the conditioner bottle, you can add various essential oils as well.
I only use the shampoo around my hair line and crown of my head, and condition from the crown down. A few times a week, I will use a tiny amount of full strength conditioner on my ends to keep them happy. Add in a nice layering hair cut, I've got fantastic hair!!! Other than my horrible cow-licks.
I don't know if it will help you at all, but I have noticed that my scalp has become less oily over time, making me wonder if I should try the baking soda again. This might be a good way to start removing shampoo from your routine.
Let me know how it goes in either way!!! I am always curious to know how others find things in the natural world!!!
