Le Butch is made mainly out of black leather. It has a lot of detailing on it made out of metal as well. The outside of the leather feels soft and slightly textured, while the inside feels a bit rougher. The harness does not have two pieces of leather sandwiched together to make each portion. Instead, it's simply one piece of leather. The leather feels a bit thicker and a bit less flexible than my other harness and some other leather accessories I have. Leather is not waterproof.
The leather has no scent to it right out of the packaging.
The build of this harness isn't much different from that of other double strap harnesses. The front has a triangle shaped section of leather. This is outlined with half of a metal zipper on all three sides. In the center is the O-ring. This is attached by leather straps and little metal snaps.
Right out of the packaging there are two O-rings in the straps. Both rings are also made out of a heavy silver metal. The smaller one measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter, while the larger one measures 2 inches in diameter. These are both very sturdy feeling rings. The weld holding the metal into a ring looks sturdy. I don't think it is stainless steel. If you need additional sizes, you can purchase additional multipurpose rings.
Along the sides of the harness are two straps with an adjustable buckle. Each strap has 11 holes spaced half an inch apart.
The back of the harness is also lined with half of a metal zipper. Attached to the back are two straps that hang down and go around to the bottom of the front portion. When worn, these straps sit underneath your rear end. These are also adjustable and have 13 holes, approximately 1/4 of an inch apart, on each.
Le Butch will work fine with any kind of toy that has a flared base. Toys with attached balls should work fine as well.
As I mentioned before, the harness will fit hips between 27 1/2 inches and 42 1/2 inches. I think this is a good variety for the harness. Accommodating a very large range of sizes in a harness can be a bit difficult, since smaller users will have a lot of extra length.
I measure 35 inches around where this harness sits on me. I am able to wear the harness comfortably. It doesn't feel too snug or too loose. The comfortable fit holds my strap-on dildo in place very well.
I don't think this would work well under clothing because it is a bit bulky. The O-ring and snaps in the front stick out a bit too far, and the buckles would all make too much of a bulge underneath clothing.
Le Butch works wonderfully for me. When worn, it feels very comfortable. Adjusting it is very easy. I noticed when I put it on that I had enough length to tuck each side's strap underneath the loop where the back straps start, which kept those out of the way.
Slipping my favorite dildos into the harness was pretty easy. I did not have any trouble fitting my toys through the included O-rings or changing them out during play. The build of the harness helped hold my toys steady, so I didn't have to keep maneuvering myself back and forth because my toy was flopping around too much.
We only ever really use harnesses for anal play. We find it easier and more pleasurable for him if I enter him from behind. Other positions tend to cause me to lose my balance or feel awkward for me. The harness worked well for doggy-style anal play.
Since Le Butch doesn't cover up genitals during wear, play can be switched back and forth. The straps do go between your legs; however, they stay closer to your thighs and leave lots of open room for genitals.
Leather can be a bit difficult to care for. It cannot be submerged in water or it will be ruined. If you need to clean it, use a damp cloth with a bit of soap on it to spot clean it. Once it's clean, it needs to be wiped dry before being stored. Leather also requires conditioning every 3-4 months to keep it supple. You'll need to follow the instructions on the leather conditioner's packaging. Unconditioned leather dries out and cracks very easily, and does not last long. Properly cared for leather can last for years.
Once the leather is clean, the harness can be stored in a dark, dry place. It should be laid flat without anything underneath it or on top of it to push the leather out of shape.
Le Butch really doesn't have much for packaging. I received mine in a large Ziploc-style bag. The bag had only a small bar code sticker on it. There weren't any instructions for use, or even information on the materials used to make it. Since the bag is see-through plastic, it is not discreet in any way.
The bag would be a good choice for storage, though, since it seals out air and dust. It will keep Le Butch clean and ready for your next session. If you prefer to get rid of it, the bag is recyclable.
This is my second harness. I really like my first one; however, sometimes I just don't like the happy bright pink color of it. Sometimes I want something a little less girly looking. Luckily, I received Le Butch as an assignment. It's not manly looking to me. It's just awesome looking. I really liked the look of the zippers and all the hardware against the black leather. Unfortunately, when I actually received the harness and put it on, it felt VERY heavy to me. Those zippers really weigh this thing down. It doesn't droop when worn, though. The weight is just very noticeable during play.
The zippers also do not feel very soft to the touch. I think they could possibly irritate your partner's skin.
I liked that the harness came with two O-rings rather than just the one. I never seem to remember to order additional multipurpose rings for my harness, so having the two sizes available is great.
I noticed that since they decided to not line the inside of the harness with anything, little black bits of leather are flaking off easily. Just setting the harness down on a white blanket, I noticed lots of little flakes when I picked it back up. I don't get really sweaty during sex, but I can see those flakes being a nightmare to clean off of sweaty skin.
