The Bolt Stroker is constructed of phthalate-free TPE. The particular blend used in this example is somewhat softer and squishier than other TPE strokers I have. The Bolt Stroker arrives coated in a white powder (presumably talc) to reduce the stickiness TPE tends to exibit. TPE also tends to have a lightly sweet smell, though the Bolt Stroker has a much stronger fruity smell as if it has been perfumed, as is common in jelly toys. The material is plenty stretchy and feels resilient. The material used in the Bolt Stroker is somewhat more oily than other TPE products (such as those made by Tenga), leaving a greasy residue on hands and fingers.
The outer shape of the Bolt Stroker makes it easy to hold the sleeve around its narrower neck. Due to the softness of the material and the lack of an outer shell (such as used by Fleshlight and some toys by Tenga), it is a bit tricky initially to get one's penis inside one-handed. However, once inserted, the stroker is easy to manipulate. As mentioned earlier, the Bolt Stroker is dual-ended. Though one continuous channel, each half has somewhat different texturing, which will alternate being applied to either one's shaft or head, depending on which side is used. The end with the larger diameter opening is has small ridges on the interior channel, while the end with the smaller opening has larger ridges. The sensation provided by the size of the ridges is distinct, but the diameter of the opening isn't really noticeable, as the stretchiness of the material precludes any constricting, "tight" effect. Due to this property, however, the Bolt Stroker should fit most users in terms of girth. More lengthy users may desire more depth, as the stroker measures up at 5 1/2 inches from end to end.
In terms of discretion, the Bolt Stroker is up there. The lack of realistic openings or flesh color make it innocuous looking, and the packaging is tasteful. However, I'm not convinced you could really pass the stroker off as something other than a masturbation device, and the packaging does make use of the word "masturbator" in several locations (and in several languages). Though not discreet enough for most people to leave out, the lack of detailing could be helpful for those who are weirded out by (or otherwise prefer not to use) realistic masturbators.
As some masturbators can be quiet noisy when lubed up and in use, it is worth noting that the Bolt Stroker is not particularly loud. Though the double-opening design lends variety and simplifies cleanup, it does make use a bit messier as fluids can come out the opposite end; careful where you point it.
Cleaning the Bolt Stroker is simplified by its dual-opening design. Unlike single-ended masturbators, which can be difficult to thoroughly clean, the Bolt Stroker is much easier to care for. I generally wash it out in the sink with warm water, flushing water through the central canal to rinse away any fluids. I then lightly scrub with mild soap using my fingers to get the inside clean. After rinsing, the stroker can be shaken out, air dried, then stored. The packaging recommends dusting the outside with baby powder to keep it soft and non-sticky. I would advise cornstarch as an unscented alternative. Pro tip: to dust your sleeve without making a huge mess, pour some cornstarch into a small cup/bowl and use a paintbrush to apply starch to the sleeve, over a sink. This cuts down on the mess and gets just the right amount of powder to adhere to the sleeve.
Material considerations: TPE is compatible with water-based and silicone lubes; I prefer to use water-based only, as clean-up is easier. TPE cannot be sterilized. TPE can be cleaned with either mild soap or toy cleaner.
As mentioned previously, the packaging is tasteful. It could be used for storage, but the thin materials likely won't hold up indefinitely. The paperboard is recyclable, but the molded plastic is not marked for recycling.
