What does working in the adult industry say to you?

Contributor: XxXxX XxXxX
When you find out someone works in the adult industry, is that a 'tell all' for you? Do you think that it shows where their morals stand? Or is it just another person working to live?

I have mad respect for most of the adult film stars out there and even more respect for the people who are working on keeping the crusade against the industry at bay.

The only true way to know someone is to live with them. Side by side, every day; day in and day out. Even then, it takes years.

It all depends on the person really.

I think the people who work in the adult industry are the same at heart and emotionally as everyone else. They just have the ability and attitude to take sex out from behind privately closed doors and be visible while having sex and performing sexual acts.

As far as a moral issue, I would say that is relative to the person making the judgment call. To me, the basic and simple morals are more important than having sex and publicizing it for others to watch. Basic orals are the blanket ones that cover every human being on earth--Honesty and truthfulness,
treating others with respect and compassion, not cheating, stealing or other dishonest actions, not participating in murder or maiming another person, and acting in a legal, polite, and respectful manner to everyone. Sex is a personal choice decision and working in the sex industry really is just that--working.

I applaud their ability, lack of inhibitions, openness regarding their bodies and courage to take the lesser traveled road that is often taboo.

I don't hold people to a lesser moral standard because they work at McDonalds or the evil and corrupt (so I am told) Walmart and not as something else.

So why would I judge someone who is filling a "need" for people out there?

This all being said? I do judge politicians much more harshly than I do anyone else in any other job. Just so you know. I do not even think they are human. So they don't count.

Thank you for this, it is very insightful and I wish everyone could understand the same way. A job is a job. A means to an end.

Here here for you all who have already posted, and LOL Woman China about politicians, I will definitely agree with you on that one...

I will admit that being in this industry, for all to see what goes on behind closed doors and open camera, can definitely be taboo in ways... There are family member to think of and how they would feel on you being in this industry... But all in all, they don't need to know, you can be somewhat discreet in everything you do... If you don't want to break your mothers heart and tell her that you are playing with yourself and pleasing others on the complete opposite side of the world for money, then all she needs to know is that you do medical billing or that you are in the online customer relations department of some unknown company...

Just because women, and even men, who work in an industry like we do, and many others as well, doesn't mean that we don't have self respect and morals... Yeah we are on camera, naked, showing everything to the world, but whatever we do on camera doesn't mean that we strut ourselves naked in public, whether we get paid for it or not... We are fulfilling fantacies, helping others relieve stress, and for a very few, just someone to talk to because they are too afraid to tell someone close and they want to know that no matter whether they are paying or not, we accept them for being human... Basically, just because we are willing to put ourselves out there for the world to see, it doesn't mean that everyone who comes to see us actually see's us naked or anything of the sort... We do make friends on camera and have a good bond even with some of them, even though we know that we will never meet them face to face...

All in all, just because I am a cam whore doesn't mean I am a whore outside the bedroom... I am a very sweet and compassionate individual, like many others are... I cry just like you, I smile just the same, and my blood is as red as yours and I'm not cold hearted in any way unless you wrong me, my family, my friends, or anyone else who does not deserve it...

To end my "bitch fest" I will end with one thing, and with this I will bid you a good day:

"I am a freak in the sheets, but never on the streets!"

I have tons of respect for people who are involved in the adult industry, particularly those who make feminist and/or queer porn. It takes so much courage and stamina and sex-positivity and open-mindedness and I really admire that.

When people say they 'work in the adult industry', it means they work in the adult industry. I feel it is much like any other profession, and so specifics (about their views and other things) can't be gained by this statement alone.

This is pretty much how I feel. Usually a person's occupation only tells you what they're willing and able to do to earn a living, and seldom says anything about their true morals or character.

I have no reason to question their morals, and I'm pretty sure most people don't. A lot of people watch and enjoy porn, so how could you even dare to criticize someone who works in the industry? Even if you don't watch it, you probably don't know the person well enough to tell exactly where their morals lie anyway.

I consider my friends who choose to be sex workers revolutionaries. They do what they do because they enjoy fucking and are critical of the sex-negativity we're constantly surrounded by. They rock!

I think of them just working to pay their bill. If they have the body go for it.
