It's really not a "beginner's sport" and your partner (the one handling the knife) needs to know what he or she is doing.
If you have any doubts, talk, research and negotiate. I wouldn't go into something with this kind of "little room for error" sport without a thorough understanding of it and knowing exactly what you want from it.
Do you just want some intimidation? Faux or real fear play? Scratching? Full on cutting and blood play? Research and talking to your partner is really essential in play with the kinds of consequences knife play may have.

I have mixed feeling on this one.^^; At the moment I'm a little scared, but I'm sure I'd be hot once you got into it. I'm usually up for anything...except scat play, but we won't get into that ^^;

Agrees with P'Gell, it's not a beginner's step. Knife play is fun and scary and wonderful and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS at times. I suggest taking a class and talking to some of your local community players about knife play before attempting it at all.

I am a knife person. I love them....the way the feel, the way they look, and the fear the put in people. So it is safe to say that we have played a bit with knives. You don't use them to really cut people. Once you really cut someone and the like the feel you have to cut deeper and harder after that. Kinda like a drug. So for me it's a mind fuck thing. Make them think one thing but do another.

It was with a military guy who was a good friend of mine. We decided to plan a little getaway and try sex together. It was good but so weird, because we are good friends. After, he could tell it was the biggest turn on for me ever ever ever, but also that I was uncomfortable around him. He plays rough. Too rough for me, and I'm a tough cookie. Knife play COULD be interesting, but I think I'd only like it if the knife edge didn't touch me whatsoever. Flat and back of the blade would be ok probably, but the edge of most knives could easily accidentally slice skin if something goes wrong. I don't personally want to see blood while playing...
But honestly, I think I'd only try knife play if my partner was really into trying. I'm not interested enough to broach the subject myself... There are plenty of other things that would take priority if I was throwing out ideas to explore.
