Go to some play parties. Or even some seminars. Youtube it if nothing else

At least for spanking, aim for the part where the butt begans to curve under. Start gently, and slowly increase. For floggers and crops, make sure you watch instructional videos before play, and keep with the idea of starting slow and soft.

Practice, practice, practice.. read up on some basic safety guidelines like the ones given above and then have fun. Be sure you talk him through it; is it too hard or can you handle more; did you like it in body place a but it disturbed you when he hit b. Communication is the key to exploration with a new toy. My husband and I just finished out very first flogging session and it was wonderful, just make sure that you're talking so that you both know how the other is feeling.

Have him try it out on a pillow or something to get the aim right before he uses them on you...a youtube video will help him see the technique, but he needs to learn to aim so he doesn't accidentally hit a dangerous area that could cause damage.
