We were curious about how to tie a knot to say, the rafters when we're engaging in bondage. Is there any knot other than your standard shoelace knot that is better for a purpose such as this?

My default knot is a slip knot. It's easy to do, easy to slide out of if needed, and comes right out if you did it right.

Slipknot is a good band too...

French bowline or ordinary bowline. If you google around for bondage rope knots or ties, you'll find some basic free sites that should help!

If you are looking to anchor a piece of rope to a solid object and tie your partner to that I would suggest putting a larks head knot around the object and tying your quick release knots closer to your subject. That way if you need to get them out quickly you wont have to spend the extra time of walking to the post they are tied to. That is my 2 cents.

EF has a few rope bondage books for more advanced techniques. The Knotty Boys books have lots of good pictures.

I have also seen some pretty good knot tying videos on youtube.
