I said a type of object but that isn't exactly accurate. We use the common color code system. Like a stoplight: if we say yellow it means we really need them to ease up, but we don't want to stop yet. If we say red it means we can't take anymore.

Neither of us have really needed to use either word.

That's really smart. I like that! :]

I usually say something along the lines of "I can't take it" or "you're hurting me" I feel like a special word just complicates things for me. We've used them before, but when things get intense I tend to forget to use them.

I like red/yellow because they vary by degree. I know someone who added "orange" for "I need to stop this activity, but I don't want to end the scene."

Ah, that wouldn't work for a lot of people (especially me) because of dominating role play scenes where "Stop" normally gets a "Be quiet".
But, I'm glad it works for you. :]

Wasn't sure quite which to pick... our safe word right now is "Darth Vader". It used to be "Tennis", but I kept forgetting it for whatever reason.

The new one came about after watching the Phantom Menace together one night and dissolving into a fit of raunchy Star Wars jokes...

Had a friend who used to shout, "apple sauce!" all the time. Unfortunately they never agreed it was a safe word. Luckily it was just because cuffs were too tight.

I voted "I say stop in another language," but it's not really another language, just nothing I would ask for: My safe word is "Mercy." I would never really ask for mercy, which is why an alarm would go off if I ever did say it.

I should have put an "other" down, my apologies.

Haven't needed one in some time, but it used to be "doorbuzzer". We were in an apartment where the buzzer was kind of hard to hear, and people would end up ringing it quite a bit. It was just as likely I was telling him someone was at the door as I was trying to stop for other reasons!
