I would say mine is innately part of who I am. Ever since I was a kid I can remember getting tingly pretending to be tied up or controlled in some way. I knew what I wanted and found out what it was called, not the other way around. The more I researched (once I learned I wasn't the only person in the world that wanted to be tied up), the more I wanted. Thank goodness for the internet! I think the bookstore wouldn't have let me buy books about such things at that age.

I know that I found out about it thanks to the internet, I didn't think much of it because I didn't have many people to talk to. But I always found myself finding things like Fanfiction or other stories that had to do with it. Nothing that was able to really give me a lot of insight into things. Though once I moved out of my parents place and really got to know a lot of other people I was able to find out more.

I can't really say where it came from. I just know that I started fantasizing about bondage and such during early adolescence.

Probably Disney movies, I would see the Princesses get kidnapped/tied up/in general peril and I'd tie myself up as best as my five year old brain could comprehend to, sit there a while and pretend some handsome prince was going to ride up on his white horse and save me, all the while filling the roles of bad guy(s) and prince with imaginary people, and then eventually undo whatever tying up I had done and ride off into the sunset with my prince (in my imagination anyway xD ).

I had fun with it though and a more than few times I remember even letting the boys at school "tie me up" to my desk with these silly plastic toy chains we had in the classroom (it was grade school so we got time to play with toys and such, but I usually sat at my desk reading).

Hmmm good question.....
I was fascinated by mid-evil torture devices scene childhood.
Then I got into the goth. Which quickly led to fetish/goth.
Then I had the luck of having a partner who asked for BDSM play.

Innate. Always wanted to be tied up. Always.

I'm not sure.
I think it was innate because ever since I remember I've wanted to play the role of a dominant person. I did a lot of bad things to try and fufill the feeling- I was young and didn't know better.
However as I grew up I became intensely submissive and passive in my desires. So...

It just seems to fit my personality. I like overpowering people and claiming control of most situations so my sex life seems to go that way. I only got into full 'gear' domination a few months ago during a brief relationship, but even before that I was usually 'forceful' while being intimate. I think I still prefer simple 'manhandling' control/ pain in most situations but the gear seems to open some opportunities.

I think it's always been there. I'm a sadist by nature, the way the human body works has fascinated me from an early age. Especially pain. How much can you take? What happens if I do this to you? What happens if i do this and TWIST really hard? Growing up in a household where a smack on the head meant "I love you", it seemed natural to me that I wanted to scratch or bite my partners, but they all seemed to think that was wrong...until I met my first kinky girlfriend and instead of squealing when I pinched her, she moaned.

There was an episode of Scooby Doo where Daphne was kidnapped and gagged. That subconsciously turned me on to it
