It doesn't matter much one way or the other (I've had partners completely clean-shaven and barely trimmed). Cleanliness is more important than hair cut. That said, if it was completely my choice, trimmed is nice.

Some weeks ago Wife was away and I'd been drinking way too much... it was a very hot day and I hit on the idea that if I shaved off my body hair it would help me cool down. Not really a good idea to do such a thing drunk. I'm just now getting over the itchiness and ingrown hairs... LOL!
