I wear them around the house. Sometimes we hook it to things. It's more of a mental play. "This is my collar and I am yours." type thing.

The ones I have are for form and function. The most recent one I got (review pending) is worn at work and around town, but its strong enough that I can attach a leash to it to tug on for play.

The one's I've gotten for my boy are more meant for bedroom play and in home wear. I gave them to him in a way that I would a ring. placing it around his neck and letting him know that he was mine.

I like play collars for attaching to a leash and being led around or you can use it to chain someone to something. As someone new to using collars, I would look for one that can be removed by the wearer (non-locking) in case of emergency.

Julietta is right about it being something that puts in you in a certain frame of mind. Wearing one instills a sense of submission and being owned. At least, for me.

i wear mine into public and at home. Most of mine (not all) can be leashed. You can also look into posture collars, simple collars, delicate collars, collars with multiple D- or O-rings, etc.

There is a collar for everything.
