I would prefer attaching something to one of the main support beams of the house so I don't have to worry about anything snapping.

It would depend on where you live. If you are renting the door or stand would be the way to go. The stand seems to work good, you just have to find a way to store it. Not sure how the door mount mounts,but there should be a clip to remove the swing from the mount.

Now if you live in a house the best would be to mount it to the ceiling. You can leave the eye bolt in the ceiling and just store the swing when not in use. Just be sure that you mount it to the ceiling joist, I might even get up there and add some more reinforcement, just in case.

As an apartment dweller, I would prefer the stand. Can't really hang something from the ceiling of an apt. and I would be nervous about hanging it from the door.

I would say the stand. I can just see explaining to my father in law why we need help repairing the ceiling when it caves in.

If I had the space for a stand, I'd get that. It would give us a little more room to move around in than being right up against the door, and I always get nervous about the permanency of drilling a bolt into the ceiling.

The stand would seem to be the safest way to go: no risk of pulling a door off its hinges or damaging the ceiling. Depending on the amount of space between the legs, it could also provide practically as much freedom of movement as a ceiling-mounted swing.
