I always thought that the plug tails (may they be pony or other tails) are just funny looking, because of their position, looking less natural...

I agree. I'm not that into pony play but I always thought that a harness with a tail attached would look a lot nicer and be more practical than the plugs out there.

Someone could definitely walk around with one of the plugs in if they wanted- most likely in private or a BDSM party or something, cuz having a tail hanging down in public would be awkward, and even under clothes it could create a noticeable bulge.
