OOPS! I guess I see BDSM as just pain and punishment. I'm not into role play and have had too much pain in my life to consider it a turn on. I really think there is more to spanking than just pain given your ass is such a important pleasure zone. Even a firm massage of your rump can bring great pleasure. Now mix that up with a few firm open hand spanks and you've got something in my book.
I totally agree that pain and punishment alone isn't much of a turn on, but there's a lot more to BDSM than just that. Typically in BDSM, there's a period of anticipation, or of gentle warm up, before the action kicks in. And when it does, if the recipient is well prepared, it's not the same quality of pain, because in a state of sexual agitation the brain seems to process "pain" signals differently. That's likely why you enjoy the open handed slaps mixed in with the firm rump massaging! My partner likes to bite the end of my nose during sex (sounds a bit odd, I know, but what can I say? She is!). Normally, if she tried that over dinner, say, I don't think it would work for me; but in the whole wash of physical sensation going on when we're fornicating, it adds a kind of sharp dimension that enhances the experience.
