They can be like handcuffs. they have a ring so you can use snap hooks to hook them together. or you can run rope through the ring to tie them to something.

They are more comfortable and versitile than using metal handcuffs.

They are a lot of fun. If bondage is something you like, they are a good investment.

Wrist restraints are more versatile than handcuffs - handcuffs are linked only to each other, so there's not much in the way of positions they can be used, especially if you aren't double-jointed.

Wrist restraints (buckled cuffs) usually have a D-ring that allows them to be tied to anything and at any distance, limited only by your reach. Tie the wrist restraints to each corner of the headboard - arms are spread apart and out of the way. That sort of thing.

So it really comes down to how you want to play and how comfortable you want it to be.
