Hi you two
Red, I loved your review on the liquid cane. I twas good to see it went to someone who could appreciate its idiosyncratic charm. I did worry who was going to get it, because I know it's a bit much for a lot of people. After reading your review and follow up, I think you would probably like the truncheon too.
It is actually quite a lot thicker, though it may not sound it by the bare numbers. The LC is 5/16" diameter, whereas the LT is 1/2", and 3/16" difference doesn't sound so much, but diameter adds up quickly.
The real difference is in the surface area and weight, which significantly affect the PSI. So while the LC is heavy, the LT is noticeably heavier, and will bruise deeper and wider.
I wouldn't really say the LC delivered a "superficial" sting (it goes much much deeper than that!), but in vocal terms, if the LC is an alto, then the truncheon is the bass.
Does that help? I suppose I could have just said "Yes".
I'm looking at the tag here as I write, and I think it's a pretty good descriptor, if I do say so myself.
"This one has a lot of personality, but not too much charm. That's another way of saying it's a rather forceful piece that has trouble taking 'no' for an answer. Actually it has trouble taking anything for an answer except short pithy phrases like "ouch", "arrgghh", "that hurts" and "please please stop". But then, what can you expect from an 18" length of 1/2" diameter solid neoprene rubber? Sympathy?"
Sir, thanks very much for the vote of confidence. I also hope EF decide to carry all of our gear! Last I heard, they were looking it over, and would be bringing some more in ‘in the future’, which is lucky really, because on ever single occasion we’ve had to ship stuff back in time, it's been an absolute nightmare.
I hope you and your little girl have fun with the Truncheon, but be warned – it is a very severe piece. Look forward to the review!
Billy
