I taught myself with one of those kits "Teach Yourself to Crochet" from walmart. Took me all of 10 minutes to learn.

Videos might work. Like an Eden tube section for the workshop vids.

Size H hook and cheap Red Heart yarn. It's great for learning. You want a light color, but not white, so you can see your stitches

On skype, there is no charge for Skype to Skype headset calls, and you can also have a group text chat that do not cost. The fees are for when you have skype to phone activity.
