The first thing that popped into my head after reading that was pork rinds.

I tried those on my honeymoon. They're not bad, considering I think they're basically just fat, fried in fat.

(Sorry if I grossed anybody out)

That's awesome! I'll pass that on to my mom and some friends of mine that do a lot of baking.

Yes post your ideas. I want to do things different than the holiday party, but at the moment, I am not sure what to swap out.

Oh yes. I know those tricks well. You'll find out whenever we get the Health Club rolled out that I am actually pretty knowledgeable about health and fitness... just difficulty/lack of discipline in applying it to my OWN daily living.

Huh, I feel less bad about enjoying them, lol.

Also, they go oddly good with tortilla soup, which tastes a lot better than it sounds.

OKAY! I can still do the thread for the community separate from the party though right?

If you get kids used to healthy food they will be cool with. It's hard going heavy salt on everything for 30 plus years and then going low sodium

My kids already eat better than I do. And as much as I know I need to be healthier and drop this weight, I feel like I'm instilling in them something way better than I had instilled in me. Just trying to break the cycle.

I commend you for that. Many people give up because they feel it is too hard or too late.
