It's not about clubs and events but I think that for new members it would be awesome to have a really prominent link (like where the community corner link is on ... more
I like that. Maybe something in bold on the front page and something small and in bold on the community page?

I made that suggestion to Gary already. An actual monthly calendar page on the site with all of the activities, and the ability to send reminder alerts. He says something like that will take time to implement but he liked it.
Different from that I said. More involved than just a name and time on a calender.

I was the same way when I first started It's a very accepting community and I, too, didn't realize how much I needed a place like EF

You are picking up what I'm laying down lol.

Great idea! I used to go to the Community News/Corner page and look at the threads listed at the left for all of the recent important announcements and information since posts get buried quickly. But then I noticed that page wasn't updated as often and wasn't reliable.

You could easily make the events clickable links to the club page with additional information.

Yes, just something that says to newcomers "Look at me! I'm here to help!"

because there are so many tutorials the help introduce you to EF and then they could learn about mentoring and clubs and events and all the other stuff that can be buried under all the other cool stuff that goes on here.

Ok...let me re-explain in more detail...

A place where you could click to see descriptions of each current club, when they meet, requirements etc. Maybe each club could also have their own logo.

There is currently no place that tells ... more
Actually we're working on creating blogs for all of the different clubs and events that will do something like that. Porn Club I know for sure will have its own blog. I haven't been told where they'll be posted here, but they'll exist

I think the challenge for newcomers is finding these blogs. It's only helpful if people can easily find and access them.

I'm still thinking that's different than what I'm talking about.

Blogs are cool though in addition.

I think the suggestion is that there is no one stop shopping spot for newbies to go to as a resource center.

Not to show my dorky-ness or anything... >_> But homestarrunner.com totally has one and it's awesome.

OK... I'm going to ask this and just ask it because you mentioned you're new so I want feedback to this....

Within a day of when you signed up, would you have appreciated a message in your EF inbox, from another contributor, letting you know about different things in the community? The mentor program? Offers to help?

Sorry Sam... it was too good to pass up the feedback.

I think that you need a site map. .... or is there one. There are a lot of pages and places on the site that are difficult to find or get to unless you already know how. A site map that was accessible from the main page would help a LOT of people, newbs especially.

I get what you're saying. How would you go about doing this?

The best way to implement my idea would be a logo for EdenClubs that would appear on the right side with the others on the home page:
link

This like would bring you to something like EdenLinks page showing and displays the different clubs and links to related meetings, blogs, etc.

Should there also be something on the EF home page that actually tells people what the community is about? I'm guessing a lot of people just order things without actually clicking on one of the links to find out what the community is about. A short, flowery description might draw in new people...

Like Tim said, front page of EF, make a BIG button that says "Newbie Nook: Learn all that EF has to offer" or something to that effect.

Maybe a sort of easily found Newbie Resource Center where they can find everything they need to learn what they need to know

But wouldn't it accomplish almost the same thing if there were links that went from a centralized calendar to the corresponding sections of a blog?

Not even just newbies. I get hella confused with everything going on too! You would be surprised the huge amount of people who still don't know about these meetings or other ones too!

If it was done correctly. Perhaps.

Not a problem, we go back through these afterwards to gather up anything that we might have missed in the heat of the discussion
