Sounds great. Similar to what the Adopt a Family program is doing, but not limiting it to just helping a family.

I really like this idea, this is really getting directly to the source and directly helping out those in need

We should vote biannually. Because manufacturers want a lot of notice. (not everybody is as fast as we are )

great idea. I much prefer this way of donating where you can see where the money is going, and that it is going directly to the cause rather than some big almost commercial style charity that doesn't have a face etc

The one thing is... does this work for everyone? What if you don't want the items on promo but you want to donate...what then?

This sounds like a great idea.

Is there no way to donate gift cards then?

Me too, and even some of the smaller charities you don't really know where the money is going to, or how it's being used. Sometimes it can just get held up in administrative things without really helping the targeted people/animals/etc.

Good point. I can't afford to buy toys often, except for with points.

No.. not in this incarnation. But you could buy one of the items, since GCs are like money here.

My nap went too late...I'm all caught up now.

Those that were at the last meeting...I am working with Gary on the ideas I proposed. Lots of things going on with eden so they will be after the new year.

Awesome idea Victoria. I think a lot of people would jump on board with that.

could we still donate points?

or depending on the cause maybe post items to that months organiser - such as dog bowls or leashes (as per your idea)

I think this is great. It might make people want to buy items more, like the breast cancer vibe.

That would work, and then hey you never know..maybe you'll end up really liking the item!

Would it then be all of the products from a manufacturer? Or specific ones? I'm concerned that it may be difficult to raise funds.

And thus, you get something for your donation

Might be hard if the organizer doesn't want their address known. I know I wouldn't be comfortable giving out my address to everyone on the interwebs..

And not to stray off topic, but I just watched the WAD video, and you guys did a great job putting it together

I agree. This is a great way to see the money in action.

I think above it was mentioned that it'd have to be worked out with the manufacturer, and they would let Eden know what could be included.

I feel like having it work this way does pretty much work for everyone. BUT I did have a thought about maybe having an option during check out where you can donate $1, $5, or fill-in-blank amount. And you could "purchase" this alone too. Like a GC, but that goes to the charity. And this would be ON TOP of the money raised from the manufacturer. I just feel like this might conflict a little. Thoughts?

Perhaps Eden can have (or each organizer can have) a PO box that is rented for whatever period of time, that way nobody would have their actual address but people could still mail things.

The only person who would have the Rep's address is Eden.

Oh I've seen that on other sites, where there is a product that you purchase, but it's actually just funds being donated to whatever. I think that could work and might make a lot of people more apt to donate a little. I know the little cards at check outs in the stores get me, so this would be like the same thing. When you're already placing an order what's an extra $1-5!

I never told you...but do you remember that condom they were selling for the clean up of the coast down south? It ended up just being a Lifestyles tuxedo condom in a cool package, but maybe we could offer buying little things like that too?...along with the $1, $5 donation etc.
