Does that already exist? I feel like it might.
that is a great idea, so many reviews out there

ALSO I think it would be nice if we could figure out a way to get people to vote on reviews more often.

I've seen reviews posted for weeks that have like three votes and it makes me sad.

I had one go up yesterday afternoon that, last I checked, was still on the page.

I'm totally gonna start doing statistical analysis about which are the most popular days to submit a review.

I would agree with that. What kinds of things might make you vote more, or might have made you vote more when you first got here? And that's directed at everybody, not just DS

Um.

Well.

Here's the thing...

I HATE voting.
So I very rarely do.

A few reasons why:
-My votes are often significantly different than the majority so I don't want the retaliation votes
-My votes are often significantly different than the majority so I totally feel like an asshole
-I forget

I vote on all of them that I read, but I have seen them go up and there is no way that people have the time to read them when they vote. I put one up one day and had a comment on it 30 seconds later???

Well, I'm not afraid to vote something useful, but when 90% of people think it's extremely useful and I find it somewhat useful, I kind of look like a dick to vote so.

Unfortunately, I think there's a lot of people here that feel the same way, myself included sometimes. As for the retaliation votes, let them do it, then report them for it. Chances are they'll keep doing it to various people and get themselves banned which is really not a horrible thing. If they can't handle honest voting, they shouldn't be here writing reviews. And as long as you leave constructive criticism and aren't an asshole about it, then you shouldn't feel like an asshole.

Also, I completely forget to vote most of the time too.

There is nothing wrong with a useful vote; whether you're giving or receiving. Useful means that it is still good, a B on a paper is still good. Nobody should ever feel bad about getting or giving a useful vote.

I wouldn't worry about it. If thats what you think then thats what you think.

I think so long as you explain why, then you're fine. Whether it be in the comments or if you send them a message. So long as you don't attack anybody, constructive criticism is always good.

As far as clubs go, are we talking coordinating things among our own community? I would love to do that but I just wouldn't know where to begin, plus it's hard explaining to everyone where and what this is coming from

Right! I will sometimes forget to add something and if someone reminds me or lets me know then I can go back and edit it so that it is better for everyone.

Well that's the problem, isn't it? I totally get miffed when I get a vote that I feel is unfair (I'd tell you to ask BBWTT about that, but she's not here. I'm STILL giving her hell about giving me a vote I thought was unfair), so I assume everyone else does.

"Extremely useful" has become the gold standard; we kind of (well, I mean, maybe not EVERYONE does, but I do) feel like if it's not extremely useful, it's nowhere near good enough.

Useful is useful, most people upvote, rather than down, most of the time.

That would hopefully get better if they were out there more, maybe some way to promote them?

Well, yes and no. I mean, I'm pretty out there, I think, and I've got reviews posted this week that, when I last looked, had nine votes. And not everyone is going to be a chatty forum member, no matter how much they'd like to be.

I get what you're saying, I just hate seeing everybody so hung up on EU vs U. I personally thing that Extremely Useful votes get used way too often, and I hate seeing all EU votes on a review and then a whole bunch of questions in the comments. Questions that shouldn't have to be asked if it was actually an extremely useful review. I've seen it happen on reviews, and it's happened in my own reviews. I would rather somebody vote honestly and then give me feedback, rather than give me the vote they think I want and then I never know how to change anything for future reviews.
