Your ice cream topic is a very serious one that I would also like to address, as my belly is also severely lacking in the ice cream department.

Also, yes! I emailed you

Yeah, I'm not sure about the classifieds. I'm fine with EF having them, just not sure how it fits in and concerned about what it could turn into.

Nope, all the meetings are open to everybody. Things are way more fun that way

I'm worried about how it will be handled if folks have problems with it - like let's say I sold something to Kindred and he never received it even though I sent it. Problems like that could cause problems on the forum....but other than that - I like it.

I'm cautiously curious, too. I guess I'll just wait and watch before forming an opinion.

is your local shelter a no-kill? around here we have one, we're very lucky, and that would be a great place for him if you can stand to give him up. they take great care of the kitty until he's adopted. even if that's forever.

This is a really new thing that we're experimenting with. I can see the potential for a lot of awesome things, but also for some less than awesome things, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for the awesome.

Any idea why EF thought it was something the community needed? Again I'm not opposed to it, just seems weird.

We haven't checked that yet. We just discovered him last night, so I put an ad up on Craigslist first checking if anyone recognizes him. He had a flea collar with his name on it, but not a proper collar with an address. I figured it's worth a shot. And proper-cat could learn some manners, anyway! Last time we cat-sat she popped the newcomer on the nose and the newcomer lived in the basement for the whole week.

Oh, I would never give him up - we adopted him when he was 3 1/2 and he'd lived in the shelter for like 3 years - he's 7 now. Its just that as he gets older - he gets grumpier - just like Art.

Of course I'm NOT AT ALL that way (is there a sarcastic smiley face somewhere here??)

For ice cream - I have some vanilla - some mint chocolate chip and something called "Christmas Cookie" that my son picked out - ate a bowl of - and then left with us after Thanksgiving.

When Gary was first telling me about it, he was describing it as a place where artists could sell or trade some of their work, or you could try and get rid of some old furniture, stuff like that.

Interesting. The biggest difficulty I see from that is I wonder how comfortable most people are with sharing their true locations, which is kind of necessary if you're mailing things.

Me too. I was thinking about trying to sell some of my bags again on there, since I sucked at keeping up with Etsy lol.

haha.. they do that. my kitteh did that when i first got elvis. now he tries to mount her and she... still hates him. but does enjoy the cunnilingus he provides her from time to time. he's a good companion. but it did take weeks of me having to shut him in the bathroom (with his own litter box and food and toys of course) to sleep because she was wailing yowling and hissing and trying to murderate him.

cats just kind of do that. at least at first.

This is true. I mean, for anything you're mailing you'd only be disclosing it to whoever you're mailing it to, and in that scenario you should use your best judgment on whether or not you trust this person to know where you live.
