I have a very adorable Hello Kitty sewing machine that, unfortunately, doesn't get enough use. I can't bring it with me when I go to school, so it ends up gathering dust! I can also sew by hand, however, and I like to make small projects like that.
I can do both. My mom is a seamstress who was actually taught to work with Vera Wang dresses by Vera, lol. She taught me to sew by hand first then with the machine. I have both a White and a Singer plus a Surger. I love to sew, lol
I sew by hand. I would love to have a sewing machine again, though. I had one when I was younger buti lost it in hurricane Katrina and I never bothered replacing it. My roommate brought his up a couple weeks ago, but before either of us used it he ended up having to move back to his hometown due to some rather unfortunate circumstances.
My wife has a sewing machine that she rarely...or never uses.
I pulled it out recently and she showed how to get started. After a bit of trial and error I managed to get the hang of it. I then used it to make padded covers for the bar and straps on our sex swing. We are both pleased with the results.
I'm trying to get together a few things for workshops and I want to see how many people sew, have a sewing machine, or hand sew.
I adore sewing, both by hand and with a machine (though I generally prefer a machine unless I'm embroidering), however I generally don't have a lot of time for it. It's very rewarding making something just from fabric and thread.
