EdenCrafts How-To: Easy Padded Toy Pouches!

Contributor: Dawn (Lilac Distraction) Dawn (Lilac Distraction)
I promised you guys I was going to do this, so here it is!

The great thing about these is that you can make them into any size you need. You can make a long, skinny one for floggers and crops. You can make small ones for bullets. You can use them to store lingerie, corsets, and costumes.

The great part about making your own is that you can play with different patterns and have a gorgeous selection of bags to match your toys. You can make a pouch for each one's personality!

You only need a few things for this project:
-Fabric (preferably something made of cotton so it can be washed easily)
-Quilt batting (easily found at craft stores and Wal-Mart)
-Ribbon or string (to keep it from fraying, knot or singe the ends)
-Scissors (obviously!)
-A piece of metal wire (you can use a coat hanger or picture handing wire)
-Pins (for pinning down your edges)
-Sewing instruments (you can hand-sew or machine-sew this entire project)

Something I forgot to mention: When/if you trim down your edges of the seams, you can make a diagonal cut at the top by where the drawstring goes. You can slightly see where I've done it in the video after I trimmed my edges off. This keeps there from being a lot of fabric from the seam right there at the opening.

That's what I'm shooting for. Sometimes regular stores like Wal-Mart have quilting supplies and sell the little bundles for cheap. I found the red stuff at Big Lots.

You can also buy fabric online, check out hancockfabrics.com or something. It's sold by the yard, so you can still just get a little scrap if you want.

This is great. I wish I was even a little bit crafty so I could try this out. I think I'm going to have to bribe my sister to do this for me.

i'm also quite impressed, that whole thing, included talking to us about it at length, took only 12 minutes. so... you could make like five thousand of those things a day. holy shit.

i need a sewing machine.

Thank you for posting this, I'm going to try and make one! I am so neurotic about making sure my toys don't touch each other so making my own pouches will help.

From start to finish, it was about 30, but I'm a huge perfectionist about my edges and I like to sew things the wrong way or out of order so it won't work.

You and I need to have a sweatshop where we make these. We could become the next big company! You cut, I sew!

You won't believe it, but I was JUST thinking the other day about how I need to make some toy pouches (the Eden pouches have been out of stock FOREVER)!!! Now I have your easy instructions to follow. I want to do this too, especially since you can hand sew them, I always have to borrow my mom's sewing machine when I need a machine because I don't have one - and I swear it knows when I'm using it and never fails to act up. Thanks!

Mine was actually a $60 one from Wal-mart. (Why does it seem like I get everything from there?) It's a 10 stitch Brother machine and I've been able to work magic with it. It's something worth investing in.

I agree! Thats a great price for a sewing machine! I'm too nervous and shaky to stitch by hand anymore...

Sometimes, you can catch them cheaper. The holidays are a great time for that.

I would but I'm pretty spastic when I try to sew.

I'll have to keep an eye out for a good deal though. $60 wouldn't be too bad, definitely worth it in the long run.
