Scratch! Or I get the higher quality mixes from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. I tend to like them better than the "super moist pudding in everything" types you'd get from other stores.

What about frosting? I always make that from scratch. Cream cheese frosting is the best that way.

I don't bake that often but it's about 50/50 for me. It depends on the type of cake. But my frosting is always scratch.

If you have the time, from scatch is always great. But there are also some really good box mixes out there.

I bake from scratch everything but strawberry cake. I keep trying new scratch strawberry cake recipes, but they never taste like anything. (And these are strawberry cakes using strawberries, not from scratch cakes using strawberry Jell-o.)

I prefer making them from scratch. It gives you much more room to play to your individual tastes than working from a box.

I always use a box when it comes to cakes eventually though I will venture out an try making from scratch. I have done other things like cookies and what not from scratch though.
