hmm, only thing I remember about the trivia is that lentils can grow in slightly cooler climate.

Idaho is it! Congratulations, Old man! We'll be emailing you a gift card!

Because lentils are tolerant of frost, it is fine to grow them in cooler climates. And because they are not very robust against plant weeds, the cooler climate gives them a better chance for success without being choked out. Also, warmer climates are more likely to present fungus issues.

they can grow starting in frost.

PS

Although it doesn't make any sense, I guessed Idaho because of the potatoes.

So what is the answer and the reason? Is it the climate or the ground?

Hmm.. I don't know much about the climates of Idaho or Georgia. I just remember that lentils can be grown in a cool, dry climate.

I guess Idaho?

I hope everyone really enjoyed this meeting---I certainly enjoyed hosting it (and preparing for it was delicious, of course )

Do we have any more questions? I'm surprised to see I got the timing just about right... but everyone can stay and chat as long as you please

They do fare better in cooler climates, because they're hardy against frost but not very hardy against other problems like weeds and fungus.

My pleasure, everyone! I hope you really enjoy it. I make this weekly at minimum, and it's one of the healthiest foods I know of. (Sometimes switching out chapatis for rice is a good idea just to mix things up, and to cut back on butter... but butter's delicious and should be used sometimes too )

I hope everyone's looking forward to next month... and I'll be putting up an Iron Chefs of Eden challenge in the forums soon, and I also hope we can all start thinking about a community cookbook! Details to follow in the forum, unless people have questions now.
