I have a hard time getting my bread to be fluffy enough for sandwiches. I still make it though... and drizzle honey over it while it's all warm.... mmmm... bread (I might be doing the Homer drool thing)

you wouldn't have wanted "smell-a-web" if I'd posted pictures of my fiasco earlier.

The bread recipe I tried before never rose enough. It was very dense, small slices of bread. But it was delish!

Tip time!

Okay so let’s say you don’t have an immersion blender, but you want to make this soup. What are you going to use? Some alternatives include:

A regular blender, you know, the one you make those frozen drinks in. The thing to be careful of is that pressure will build up as you blend the hot soup, so to keep it from exploding in your face, leave the lid open a crack and cover it with a kitchen towel, so the splatter doesn’t go everywhere.

A food processor, though you might have to do it in batches so as to not overfill the thing with hot soup.

A food mill, it’d be a hot and messy job, but I’m pretty sure it’d work. (We don’t have one of these anymore. We gave it to my uncle who wouldn’t know what to do with it if it came with instructions… which it didn’t.)

And if you have none of these fancy gadgets you could try: to push it through a strainer or a sieve with your ladle (may be messy, and definitely will be hot), mash it in the pot with a potato masher (probably will not get it as smooth as the other options… call it a rustic soup and it’ll be fine), or you could whip it with a hand-held mixer (the one you use for baking).

Great tips! I'll have to try the blender option, it seems. Did you say you had a write-up of this recipe we could snag?

Any reason you have to blend it? Could you just leave it, kind of like a stew?

Yep. You just have to be careful because that's a really hot liquid that's splattering about!

You could if you want. The squash'd be really squishy, so it's really more of a texture thing.

I guess well it will be chunks of squash with coconut milk/broth/tofu if you don't
