They used to have grits in elementary school and I hate them. Being in the south doesn't help -_-

I can't remember where/when I was introduced to grits but we definitely make them and love them. All sorts of varieties but usually just some delicious cheesy grits as a side with southern cooking or as a part of breakfast. Delicious!

You just made my mouth water! Awesome idea!

I usually have with a little butter & salt & then a side of bacon - gotta have some bacon in every bite, then it's wonderful. But, really, if they are not good grits, they are awful. You need good grits, made by someone who knows what they are doing to avoid a disgusting, gluey mess!

Oh, I feel I need to say that with just salt and nothing else, good, fresh grits taste like corn, yes, they have a flavor! Think about the difference in quality between oatmeal brands. The better the starting ingredient, the more naturally flavorful it is. Same goes for rice. Most people are used to high flavor foods these days and that's fine, just use the grits as a base for the other ingredients, the way most of Asia uses rice - to stretch out the more expensive ingredients while maintaining nutrition & filling you up..

I LOVE HOMINY! I used to eat it all the time as a kid!

I just recently had grits and I like them too!

Born and raised in the south and my mom never made grits.

I've had grits countless times - my southern family members eat them almost daily (or so it seems when I visit) and I have many friends up north who enjoy them as well. They just don't appeal to me, even when drowned in yummy toppings

They're not to my liking. I always smile though when I hear grits mentioned. It reminds me of my souther grandmother, who really likes her grits. Sometimes,if she's feeling fancy she'll add some cheese.

I'm a Southern girl. Of course, I love grits! I like them with lots of butter, and sometimes with cinnamon. Shrimp and grits? Heavenly!

I have tried grits, but they were not plain but made with a fancy homestyle dinner. They were good but I probably won't order them plain or make them ever.
