Well, that’s my toy box. All the materials I used for this box only cost about $14 ($4.62 for board, $2.58 for the handle, $2.47 for clasp, the hinges will cost you about $3.00 for a pair and a can of polyurethane will be around $4.00). Pretty cheap ... more
I'm very late, but I just wanted to say that you TOTALLY rock for doing this! This is awesome!

Really, the price surprised even me. I know I'll be making a few more for sure. I have an idea for one just for lube with holders for the bottles. Like I was saying too, blue or red stain would be awesome too.

Patching hole in the wall (and replacing shower tiles over it?) has got my vote. Oil change too would be good to see.

I've got a dripping kitchen faucet that I can't get my super to change. That would be cool too.

That's cause we both appreciate how glass MUST be displayed!

Or A DIY Lighted cabinet? Still trying to get mine....

There are lots of natural dyes and stains you could try. Grass clippings boiled down give a lovely yellow green stain. Figured this out entirely bu accident! You have to be careful not to have maple leaves mulched in or you get some really interesting color variations....or maybe it would be amazing?

Dandelion heads make a really pretty greeny gold on fabric...dunno about wood though.

You rebel you! I am so sorry I missed this meeting, I LOVE me some DIY. I am one of those ladies that watch house building and renovation programs on TV.

Pretty easy really, just glue a layer of foam to the board and cover with the material before assembly. You could also make a insert of sorts, just wrap the pre-cut foam with fabric and glue them in with contact cement.
Also if you want to pretty it up easily you could glue in the foam core and then wrap a piece of fabric cut to fit the sides of the box, tightly over the foam and glue it down evenly. You can add special detail by adding large buttons and tacking them down with small flat head nails through the eyes of the button. You would want very small nails that won't poke through the wood of the box.

I can do the patching but since we have no tile I could only give direction there-no pictures.

The faucet is easier/better replaced, that is a pretty straight forward job. Since you live in a apt I am not sure if you want to spend the money though. Let me know, eh?

I love watching those shows, you can learn a lot!

The grass and Dandelions would be pretty cool, we all have some of them around.

"Complete with swing and hot tub?" hmm, getting a bit pushy aren't we? lol I have had a few requests for mounting a swing though, certainly a possibility.

What a great idea; this is something you'd never see being made on the Old Yankee Workshop, haha.

I'm sad I missed it last night but I'll have to give it all a proper read-through later.
