Now with that being said, are there any ideas for a new fundraiser?

I know we were talking about doing more drives like the clothing drives, and doing one for school supplies and the box tops as a back to school thing had been brought up. This can be a drive that's done all through August (unless anybody thinks it should be done sooner/later)

For the rest of July? I wouldn't have a problem with making another thread like the clothing drive for a food pantry drive. Same rules apply to it with the blog?

The school drive sounds good. I know when I went back home to Florida recently I saw on the news how some changes were being made to school lunch programs and they were asking for donations. I don't know if this effects anyone else but if it does it would be nice to find a way to help in that area as well along with the supplies and box tops.

I don't have any specific ideas, but looking ahead, I would suggest a lull in fundraisers during November, and maybe even October in preparation for the holiday season. People are usually in such a giving mood then that we could really make a big difference with one charity. Plus, it would give people a chance to build back up their points and earn more gift cards.

Just a thought.

I think that's pretty common around the country, especially in poorer communities, whether it be rural or urban.

not sure how easy it would be, but what about a military care package drive, just simple things like toothpaste and other toiletries

I see your point. We can take a poll later and see about the holiday families again like we did last year. That was such an awesome thing, and I'd love to do it again.

Toys for Tots is another good charity we can try to do something with.

I like the family sponsoring from last year, but I think something like Toys for Tots would impact more needy children.

we could still offer the family sponsoring and have toys for tots as an option for those who don't want to or can't participate in sponsoring

I think it should be one or the other. As much as I want to adopt families and give needy kids things they need, I think that having fundraisers for adopted families and toys for tots is going to be just a tad bit overwhelming.

The sponsoring requires the community to donate, and with 5 families (I think?) last year, I think the later families lost out a bit because it was draining. I'm not sure the community could support both at the same time. I'd rather pick one and commit to it.
