Eden Gives Back Club Meeting - Tuesday September 6th @ 8pm

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
Life happens, and it's completely understandable why we all weren't able to find the time to help, as much as we want to.

This actually brings up what I wanted to talk about tonight. I do believe that this community can do great things, however I feel like monthly meetings make us feel like we have to do stuff and we're stretching ourselves thin. My thought (and forgive me if we already settled on this, I'm a little under the weather at the moment) is that we can move the Eden Gives Back discussions back to the Community Planning Meeting, and still keep this section here for larger projects or meetings that might need to happen.

What do you guys think?

I'm sorry if I shouldn't be posting this but Im reading about the school supplies and there is a really cool thing Elmers is doing right now if you "like" their FB page, or watch the video on their FB page, they will donate a school product to children in need (a foundation actually) link

I like the idea of three month long projects. Since this now the season of canned food drives and the like, it would be great to have something along that theme and people can submit photos and all that until November then we switch to the Christmas drives. And of course this is also when shelters are asking for warm clothes, blankets and stuff like that.

Or we can donate stuff to the Red Cross for the Hurricane/tornado/floo d/brush fire victims.

I think you are right and it is a great idea, we could even extend the time for the community planning meetings to compensate

Doing the Red Cross donations is actually something that could be a larger project if you'd like to email me about it.

And this way if there just isn't really anything the community can do at the moment, we don't spend an hour trying to reach for something that just might not be there at the time.

I like this idea, combining them would simplify things. At least for now.

So, if it's all settled that we'll move all of the regular chat back to the Community Planning Meetings, and ~ Stormy ~ is going to email me about a potential fundraiser, is there anything else that anybody would like to bring up?

If we do a food drive...would donations through schools count? Almost all of the schools in my area do it twice a year---once in the spring and once in the fall.

I think it would all count, we usually give to the library or right to the food pantry

Same with ours. My kids always ask for cans and such.

Hey everyone, as I said in the other meeting this evening, I've enjoyed sitting in on these meetings, even though I haven't been saying much. I am learning more about the process of these meetings. Thanks!

If anyone is bored and wants to message me and let me know how these meetings work, that would be nice lol... I also would like to participate in the activities brought up but I am not sure how to go about it

You'll see the posts on the forum calling for participants, don't worry about that. The key to these meetings is your F5 button---refresh, refresh, refresh!

Hit F5 often to refresh the page, and then chime in when you've got something you want to say We're good listeners.

Or if you mean joining in the actual activities---the two meetings we've been at tonight are just planning meetings, so the actual activities are still in the works. We're just tossing out ideas.
