It's just probably a bad sign for culture (for our health, at least) that having fun, celebrating, and taking a break from the mundane has to include pigging out at least once a month. There's just about a holiday every month that has dedicated junk food. Not that I don't partake in some, but I definitely don't go to the extreme I used to.

Yeah, I used to eat a lot, way more. I find the more I chitchat during the meal, the less I eat. I try to let my stomach settle.

With my extended family, it's more like if we're all in the kitchen sharing cooking tips, we're a lot less likely to accidentally start divisive arguments. Food (and the love of it) is something that nearly everyone has an opinion to share on, and in the disagreements, everyone can always peacefully agree to disagree. It's interesting but not world-ending.



Maybe not every extended family is like this... but even with friends, it's fun to have a task you're all working on together. And, at least, with so many different delicious things coming out of the kitchen, we can at least practice portion control! I don't think I've had more than 2oz of any given food on a holiday.

Awww that's always a good thing. And I definitely love to hang out in the kitchen with certain family or friends. I've become pretty happy that I've moved my family toward healthier alternatives too so that we can enjoy the food without guilty or concern over health.

I got my parents moved to soy bacon, which tastes just as good to me, because my dad has cholesterol issues. All the taste with fewer to no health complications - yay!

There abouts. Probably a week.

There's a contest in the Weekly Roundup. Other than that, I'm not sure of any other contests.
