Yes and no. It does cut down on the plastic but it does filter out some good stuff. If your tap water is not the greatest, then by all means.

My tap water is the worst I have ever tried (Well water), the thing is, most of what you're tasting is the good stuff your body need/wants. Of course, having drinkable water in your house is one problem that is getting worse.

Yeah, but the green tea is a major step down for me. I was hooked on caffeine, drinking coffee and strong hot tea several times a day. I use 6 green tea bags to a gallon of water for my iced tea and this is a HUGE improvement. One step at a time for me! lol. I'm still a smoker too, so yeah.... I can only handle one life change at a time. I decided to start with the caffeine because I was having insomnia. Sleep is the most important thing to get on track right now so that I actually have energy to take care of my toddler, fiance, and house WHILE trying to have energy to work out.

This is very true. But it is beneficial if you are not getting enough iron from dark greens and red meats, just like BBW said. Which happens to be my scenario...I don't know what regular meals are like for the rest of you. I should have mentioned I do take them because of the missing foods in my current diet.

Honestly I didn't even think of Iron supplements to me iron= spinach. But I guess there is as supplement for every vitamin and mineral out there.

LadyAlda, about a year or so ago I was told that I was getting close to being anemic. So I think I am probably it or getting close to it again. I have been having too much cereal and pb&j sandwiches but I am sick of them. Now its spinach and cheese omelettes.

I love spinach. I make my omelets with spinach, carrots, and white mushrooms...very tasty. I add a bit of reduced fat feta at times, too.

The worst thing for me is that not working, I feel guilty asking my man to buy me new clothes. I lost all my baby weight the first month after having my son. I was so excited, I actually bit the bullet and had him spend $300 on a few nice outfits at Lane Bryant, along with underwear and bras. I was still plus sized, but I felt great and felt I still looked good. Then I had to stop breast feeding and I actually gained 20 pounds in like 4 or 5 months. Suddenly all of those new clothes didn't fit me anymore and we couldn't afford to buy me new ones. I have gotten an outfit here or there when I just HAD to have one to even be able to go out with friends, but I still have nothing attractive to wear. To make things even worse, the last two pairs of pants I bought, I actually bought big because my self esteem was so low and I didn't want to waste money by getting too fat for my clothes again. I have actually lost a little weight since then, so yeah..... When I go out I either have on pants that are too tight or pants that hang off of me.

I get so depressed about being in this house every single day, but when it comes time to go out, I feel embarrassed about how I look. This is a huge change for me. This is the first time in my life that I am NOT comfortable in my own skin.

I never thought about carrtos. I am guessing you use shredded carrots I will start doing the same from now on. I have in the past added mushrooms to my omelets but I heard they have no nutritional value.

I love all kinds of cheese.

Thanks for this info sweetie I no longer have a dr. I went to the er cause I had a cyst. But there are a few things there that I do have. I am just going to have to eat more spinach and red meat more often.

Has anyone ever compared brands of filtration pitchers? is brita better than the others? or has the name become synonymous with filter pitchers.

I use white mushrooms, I should mention I saute them beforehand in a drizzle of olive oil. They're not packed in nutrition but they give the omelet a nice taste and bulk up the omelet at the same time. And the carrots give the omelet a nice sweet yet tangy flavor.

First time for me feeling this way too. And yes being unemployed sucks it makes you feel worthless. And though I am applying to jobs online like crazy I am like what if I get the job? I have nothing to wear. Even I wear something decent for the interview I have nothing for the job itself. And like you I feel embarrassed about getting together with friends.

Hopefully starting tomorrow we will drink more water and try to exercise more we need to start out by walking. We need to get back into our clothes and feeling good to get back on track.

yeah the small white ones where the ones I used too. Oh so you slice your carrots thinly. I am definitely going to try that I like mushrooms but budget wise stop buying them. I figure I need to buy stuff that will give me nutritional gain or taste really good, like chocolate chip cookies. Lol I have not bought them in a long time but at times do think that I should to get my sweets craving taken care off.

I agree with you on the caffeine thing, especially when it comes to staying hydrated but let me just say this. Sometimes you have to take baby steps. I know people who are faced with stopping sodas cold turkey for straight up water, will not do very well. I know, I was one of them and so was my fiance. For a lot of people, making a SUCCESSFUL lifestyle change and keeping it long term, means making these baby steps. Yes, iced tea has caffeine, but compared to a can of soda or a cup of coffee? Depending on how many bags you use per gallon and what type of tea you use, you are looking at anywhere from half to like 1/8 the caffeine or less of what you would normally drink. Take into account the 40 plus grams of sugar that you are going to get from a can of soda or serving of juice, that is a huge difference. Also, if you are like me and like A LOT of ice, your tea gets watered down even more.

Ever try dark chocolate? The ones with higher percentage of cacao offer some health benefits. And if you treat yourself once a day you're less likely to binge when you are near sweets. This has worked for me. I took it to the extreme once and deprived myself completely and it just made it worse.

Maybe continue making substitutes? I'm a huge ice tea lover, too, but I know it's high in sugar and caffeine and because I still want flavor in my drinks, especially when I have meals I change it up a bit with flavored sparkling water beverages. Some of them don't have caffeine or sugar.

Yes, I have often thought about a job and then think, what would I wear?

Well, I have already cut out sodas and have cut my coffee to only once or twice a week. I am drinking a lot more water now and iced tea (which I have discussed in the thread previous). I just need to get better sleep. I started doing Wii Fit again today and did 45 minutes of Yoga and strength training and running (accumulative). I'm just hoping this forum will help keep me motivated.

Next big thing? I need to quit smoking! We should talk about this too, if there is anyone else who is quitting or wants to. I know Kristi has quite cold turkey, though I read her struggles with it on FB. She has inspired me to want to try to quit again.

I have tried it and in the past when out and about would get the dark chocolate snickers bar. But I am a cookies, and brownie type of girl and not really a chocolate bar type of girl. Oh I also like pop tarts.

But you are right having straight dark chocolate is good for you I did try once dark chocolate with chili in it, it was good. I got it at Whole Foods. Wish I could shop there but even if I could afford too it is out of my way to go there.

Maybe we should start looking into small ways to alter clothes that don't fit properly and offer each other tips that have worked well for us. I know I've done some small tricks to get my clothes to fit better.

Oh, oh, oh. I've been doing something similar. I don't have the funds to purchase workout equipment or a gym membership, so what I've been doing is queuing up dance videos on youtube and following along (Specifically Just Dance 2 videos) . It's made exercising really fun for me.

I do continue to make substitutes. When I crave a soda really bad, nothing else will do, so I make it a diet and I pour the warm soda over ice to water it down. I only drink the ones with Splenda in them because I hate the after taste of the other artificial sweeteners. Also, all of the Diet Rite brands have no sodium, no caffeine, so sugar, and are sweetened with Splenda. Still, I limit this to once a day max. I don't sweeten my tea at all, but that takes some getting used to. I just started using 1/4 cup less sugar than normal per gallon, then when I got used to that, took out another 1/4 cup, until I ended up with no sugar at all. That took years though. For every glass of tea I have, I refill my glass with water only, or with a splash of fruit juice. I try to drink plain water period after dinner until bedtime.

The Wii Fit has been really fun too. I enjoy Yoga, I always have, and the other exercises move along so fast, that it makes the workout seem to fly by. I just wish we could afford the new Wii Fit PLUS, so I could customize the work out and have it flow seamlessly from exercise to exercise. As it is now, you have to stop in between to select the next one, so it doesn't keep your heart rate up.

I think regular exercising and weight lifting was helpful to get my vitality back. I also took some supplements and I think they did make a difference.

I took 500mg Tribulus every morning and I think it makes me more confident and I get a boost in desire.

Before sex I will break up a capsule and drop the herbal powders under my tongue and I get an erection right away. This seems to work for me consistently.

I tried Maca also. It is more potent than Tribulus, but it also makes me easier to anger. I only take it when I really want to be fired up for that day.
