Nude Photography Porn or Art?

Love this kind of photography, I guess it's a little of both, in a good way

It is the intent of the artist, not the nudity, that makes it pornography.

Overall, I wonder why it matters how we label it. One main point of photography is to display the myriad of human experiences. Sexuality is a human experience, and I see no reason why a sexual photograph should be any less valid than any other kind of photography. If it makes you aroused, then all the better- the photo is evoking emotions, more than we can say about half the photography nowadays.

This is obviously not what you were implying, but I thought I'd state that anyway.

Definitely depends on how it's taken. For example, the Roman/Greek statues, even though they are nude, can never be considered porn. That would just be weird.

It could also be neither. If it is a picture of a bunch of people at a bbq (playing Volleu ball, surfing etc) on the nude beach, it is just a picture of some friends.

I agree, it depends on how the picture is taken and who is viewing it.

None of the images here link in my opinion are porn.
However, under a different context those same images on link are porn.

Hmmm I wonder lol

It depends on the atmosphere and certainly the poses and how it is presented.

Porn is in the eye of the beholder. Just look at all of the opinions here.

I think it's art. But lots of people can argue the point as art is different to different people.

I personally think its in the intent, pose and attitude of the photo. I have somewhere in the area of 20,000 nude, naughty and XXX photos of my wife I have taken. Some of those are very artsy with her posed artistically in the nude or semi nude, while others are her completely naked with her legs spread wide showing her pink and wet delights...extremely porn like. Then again, some might call that art. In the end I think it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Depends on how it's taken for me to consider it art. If it's just a picture of genitals I hardly see that as art but to another person it might be.

Porn and art are not mutually exclusive. Something can be both artsy (whatever that means) and pornographic.

I truly believe it is a very beautiful form of art. Like a previous poster stated, it does not matter what your body looks like, it is unique in one way or another. After all, art is anything one finds
aesthetically pleasing.

I wouldn't object to either, but the question is getting at the difference between direct sexualness and eroticism. Eroticism has some mystery to it.

I feel that this question is posed backwards. Yes nude photography is art, but most things can be called art. Now that's not to say that they hold much artistic value or quality. I believe that porn even has the ability to be fine art, but it's a money driven industry like most things ans it's easier to write and shoot a cheesy scene than an artistic one. And I bet they wouldn't sell anymore if they went high art on it either.
