Can you explain a bit on the "Quick Grab Button"? I don't think I understand the concept.

I've only had one photo deleted from Photobucket, and one from Imageshack.

Wordpress uses PHP to "call" the information stored in the database (the brain) -anything you "post" to the site, plus all your settings - into the standard template, which is laid out with HTML (the bones) and CSS (the skin).

Yes. They cover their butts that way. I wish there was a specific line, but there isn't. As someone said, though, their blog hasn't be deleted, so while be *careful*, don't be too scared of it. Just make sure to back-up regularly.

Another idea: How to write a review for publish on a blog.

Some have only done EF reviews where we have the extended template, so it may be nice to include writing for a blog instead...like what all to include, taking photos, categorizing/tagging your posts for easy navigation for your blog readers, etc.

I think she means so that your button has the code to be copied under it.

Well, it's probably the word 'software' that sent my inner technophobe running for cover, but the whole concept of linking, code, and then some of the acronyms throwing me for a look: PHP, HTML, SEO..?

It's a lot. My average picture is 25 KB. Which is tiny. You'd need a *lot* of pictures.

I'm interested in knowing where people learned their technical blogging skills (different languages, etc.). Especially if they were self-taught! A resource-sharing space could be very useful.

Haha. I know how that feels. Some of these new 'smartphones' scare me.

PHP/HTML are just programming languages.

SEO is Search Engine Optimization. It basically means writing in a way that makes Google love your content more.

It's a little box that has the HTML for the blog's button. Instead of having people save the image to their computer and having to re-upload it somewhere else (like when exchanging buttons) to place it on their sidebar, there is a piece of code you can insert in the sidebar. IF someone wants your button, all they have to do is copy and paste the HTML code, insert it into their sidebar, and they are done.

I have one on my site, Link, if you want to see what I am talking about.

Do you need to know programming languages to blog effectively? If so, how painful are they to learn?

LOL I learned html on some ancient site builder in the 90's called Homesite that eventually was bought by Macromedia around 95/96 so I couldn't afford to upgrade it ... oh I'm so old Self taught as well. But I was able to pick up php easy enough. I've got a nice PHP/HTML tattoo to document the transition over time

There's a PHP tutorial I've used. I'll see if I can find it for the next chat to forward to you.

Ahh. A "Grab My Button" thing. Got'cha. That's pretty easy to do. We could include it in a meeting, but I don't know about a full meeting. Added though. It'd great to know and the coding is newbie-friendly. Actually. Maybe I'll just make a full meeting on "button design" and whatnot.
