I have online friends, so I get really worried if they don't communicate for a really long time. Hiccups due to the computer crashing or tests I can understand, but if it's longer than expected I get really nervous.
Me as well. I have their phone numbers for most of them so if i don't see them for awhile i send them a text. I have even googled a couple times to see if something pops up.

Ok so Kady....dish was that amazing and heartstopping piece Just One More Chance drawn from personal experience or the news or what? It made my heart literally lurch when I read the end.

I do the same thing. So far I haven't found anything, but I always keep my fingers crossed.

Daaaaamn that hurts to hear. So many people feeling utterly helpless it's like a horror movie but doesn't have a good ending....

I thought of various news stories about domestic violence I've read. It kills me to think how common domestic violence is.

That was seriously powerful. I got an ache in my stomach right at the beginning because I suspected where it was headed.

Is it horrible or just sad that I google every couple of weeks to see if my family has passed on? I have no idea what I'll do if I find anything but I can't seem to stop myself. I'd call but to be honest I don't want the turmoil it'll cause.

Yeah, it really sucked to have to watch. And what sucked even more for me was that I had actually run into him a few weeks earlier and meant to try and reconnect, but didn't and then it was too late.

It is sadly true. Love doesn't always make the best decisions does it?

A couple of my friends and I are on several of the same sites so if, say, a friend can only access a certain site via phone when his home net is down, I may find a post or something like a Facebook like to show that he's still out there. Or, he'll tell me in advance he's going to be busy or try to message me on FB mobile that his net is down. Considering that one of my friends is really suicidal like me, hearing from him (and vice versa) in some subtle way is our way of saying "yes, I'm not as active as usual at the moment. But I'm still alive."

Hmmm that leads me to a possible topic....something to do with regrets. Like what do you most regret.

Somewhere in between? Honestly I can understand why you don't just call, but I can also completely understand not wanting to be left entirely out of the loop. It's something I would do too if that makes you feel any better about it.

Didn't this one have some biting? Lol. Seriously that was the first I had written since early June so it felt good to just get something out there. Glad you liked it. I have noticed I tend to go for misdirection in a lot of my stories...I need to try to get some new twist ideas.

Haha, that's a good one that would go well with new resolutions and the like. "What did you regret most this year, and what are you doing to start fresh next year?"

Oh yeah, definitely. It's especially heart breaking when children are involved. The victim not only has to think about his or her safety, but also his or her child's.

My stomach ache began when I read the part about the baby peeing himself. After that woman super glued her daughter's hands to a wall and kicked her to death for a 'potty training issue' I just get sick when I hear about it. I can't understand these idiots...really? It's a natural biological function it'll happen in it's own time!
Still vo=iolence really doesn't need a cause does it?

All you can do is keep reaching out until he is capable of reaching back I guess.

My friend that I worry about isn't suicidal but does have some serious depression periods. And sometimes she is upset with me, so one way i know she is just busy or doesn't have anything she thinks she wants to talk about but lets me know she isn't upset is StumbleUpon. If I don't gat a stumble after 3 or 4 days, I start texting.

Or even how could you change your entire being by taking your biggest regret and making a resolution to challenge it or change the circumstances so it never happens again....whew that'd be a challenge!

know my Dad is dying and my other extended family isn't much better off but I don't want to be hurt again and their way of dealing with bad things in their lives is to lash out. Still I do love them...sometimes I feel as trapped as the woman in Kady's story.

I hate child abusers by default, but I absolutely abhor the monsters who beat children who wet themselves. Really? REALLY? I recently heard about a man who burned his son because the little boy came to him asking to change his diaper. Not only was the dude so neglectful that a two year old boy literally asked for his diaper to be changed, but the asshole got so angry that he took boiling water and burned the kid's genitalia. I wanted to teleport to that monster's jail cell and punch the ever lasting shit out of him. That poor boy is definitely scarred for life both physically and mentally, all because of something everyone does.

Heh in my case my safety be damned I'll kill for my kids but then again I chose two men who wouldn't abuse me physically if they were forced to. I have to struggle not o be the abuser in my relationships. Knowing that it could be ME lighting the match is what keeps me working on bettering myself and controlling my horrible temper.
