50,000 Reviews, we want your experiences!

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
Hello everybody! As you may have heard by now, the community has reached a huge milestone; hitting 50,000 reviews! This is some pretty big stuff, and we wanted to celebrate this momentous occasion in a few different ways, all of them revolving around you.

There have been a lot of changes over the years with the review program. For most of you there haven't been any big changes, but a few people here still remember having to send in a writing sample to be accepted into the review program. Some remember a time before the mentor program, and before public voting. This thread is a place for all of you, no matter how long you've been here, to share your thoughts and feelings on the review program as it has evolved over the years.

I know when I'm asked to sum up my experiences or share a story, I sometimes draw a blank. So I have this handy list of bulletin points that may help you decide what to talk about, because we want to hear what you have to say!

-What got you involved in reviewing to begin with?
-What got you to keep reviewing?
-Who was your favorite reviewer when you started reviewing? Has that person changed?
-What was the best review that you've written? How about your worst?
-How has being a reviewer here affected your sex life? How about your life in general?
-What's been your favorite part of the review program so far? What parts are you not as fond of?

Seriously, anything involving the review program that you want to share, we want to hear!

When I stop to think bout the review program, I'm amazed with how much I've learned about my own body, and my ability to communicate with others about it. I've learned how to share important information---and hopefully I've helped out some readers along the way!

Cool! I have to get moving to write something for Eden Cafe. It's been so long since I've written something and this program is fantastic.

Thanks, Sam.

I didn't realize that the review program started in 2007. I started writing reviews at the very beginning of 2008. I wanted to write reviews of toys because I wanted to keep trying new thing. I wasn't satisfied with just one good toy, I wanted LOTS of good toys, so I scoured the internet for places where I could write reviews in exchange for free products, or keeping the products that I reviewed. EF was a perfect match. I had send a writing sample and after figuring out what they were looking for, I was accepted as a reviewer.

At first the program was fantastic. There was no limit on the price of what you were reviewing, for the most part, and if there was, you moved up into the next price range quickly and easily. You could also write as many reviews as you wanted, there wasn't a one review per month limit. As a college student, I was writing reviews every month or two. It was fine.

My reviews have drastically decreased as EF started rolling out changes. I've been reviewing since the start of 2008. Technically I have "advanced reviewer" status, despite this, I still can't review anything over $40. That's shitty. If someone has been with the program since near the beginning, they ought to at least be offered the opportunity to write reviews for some of the nicer and higher end toys, rotate, give people an opportunity. It seems to me that the same group of people ALWAYS writes the reviews for those high end toys. There's no variety to the style or the people across the board. Apparently the only way to move up in the ranks to get a higher price limit is to be an "active member" of the community, but some of us do other things, like school, and it just isn't feasible to be posting constantly in the forums and writing comments and posting things, and so you can't move up. And even if you did move up, it's next to impossible to find a toy with no reviews or a toy that you can actually get to write a review because everything has been reviewed. So. Basically. I think the program has become mad unfair and impossible to work with. I think the program has decidedly gone downhill. I want to write more reviews, but with the severe limitations, it's just not possible.

As for my sex life, as soon as my partners find out that this is what I (used to) do, they get excited. In their world, it means I know what I'm doing in bed. I know how to please myself, whether that translates to pleasing my partner is another question entirely. Knowing that I write reviews also makes the guys comfortable in talking about sex and asking questions - they know that their questions will be welcomes. For me, it means that I am not at all shy about asking for what I want.

In general, I think accepting my sexuality and being open about it makes me a more confident person. It also makes me question society and the taboo on discussing sex and all things sex related.

We got involved in order to learn more and provide others the information we learn. Being relatively new to the adult toy market, it was important for us to not be a part of something that felt skeezy or in some way illegal with the amount of unauthorized explicit images, etc. We wanted a place that was a bunch of normal people from different walks of life discussing adult toys openly and honestly. Having been here for around a week, we are loving it so far!

I want to give a shout out to Kynky Kytty for encouraging me to write my first review, which was just weeks before the Mentor Program was announced - and so she became my Mentor as well. Thanks, Kynky, for your encouragement and professionalism in showing me that I can do something for Eden (albeit when my meds aren't killing my libido ).

I think my writing skills have improved drastically since I began the review program, though I need to learn to stop taking on more than I can handle because I'm super backed up on reviews at the moment. It's funny seeing the folks who were here when they had to send in writing samples; I wish it were still like that, honestly.

I began reviewing because when I was starting out sexually with my boyfriend, I was SUPER shy and there was NO way I was gonna ask questions in some brick and mortar store. Then I began shopping around online and a lot of retailers had NO reviews, or very poorly written ones. So, I began writing reviews cause I didn't want people to be in the same boat as I was

I'ma try to answer them all! ;D

-What got you involved in reviewing to begin with?

If it's free, then it is for me. I've been unemployed for almost two years now. As much as I'd love to spend monies on toys, bath products and kinky gear, I have to budget, painfully.

-What got you to keep reviewing?

Eden's wonderful community, the neat stuff that comes out almost every day that makes me scream "WANT!" and my strive to improve.

-Who was your favorite reviewer when you started reviewing? Has that person changed?

RedVinylKitty, as it was her blog that brought me here. Also Antipova, since she was the editor of my very first review, and you always remember your first! I don't think they have changed, unless you count that they get awesome-r every day. ;D

-What was the best review that you've written? How about your worst?

I haven't discovered my best yet, however I think my worst was my first review, as I didn't know what the ever loving hell I was doing. -laughs-

-How has being a reviewer here affected your sex life? How about your life in general?

My girlfriend enjoys hearing about my new toys and can't wait to use them against me. I've also become more comfortable with sex-related things. My Mum is a prude, so I kinda grew up thinking "Ewwww, gross. Sex! A proper lady doesn't talk about that."

-What's been your favorite part of the review program so far? What parts are you not as fond of?

I think my favorite part is helping people make their decisions with a product because the reviews are from REAL people rather than the company saying "Buy this product because of XYZ! it'll blow your mind!" My least favorite part is getting started on a review, I always have like severe mental block. However, once I've got going, there's no stopping me!

I actually agree with many things that ToyQuest said. I started out in 2997, and it was great to have so many toys to choose from with no limit to the cost of the toy. I have been here since right after the toy reviews part began and I am still limited to toys under $50. No love for us long-timers...

It is getting harder and harder to find a toy to review that I actually want. There are so many reviewers these days and most things I want already have one or more reviews written. And it is the select few who get to review the really good stuff.

BUT having said all that, this place still rocks! I have gotten many cool toys, met some very cool people and I love this place. Thanks, EF, for letting me be a part of all this.

Thanks, Chilipepper! But you had been around here for the longest time on the forums! And I barely had any mentoring to do. You rock.

As for my experience here... I'm surprised to say that I've been a member for 2 years now, and it took me a month to decide I wanted to create a blog to review toys and test out the affiliate program as well, which I do not regret. At first my reviews would take hours... I'd have to dedicate a full day or so to complete a review, and I'm really happy when I can write a review in one or two hours.

My reason was that I was jealous to see that people could get really cool toys in exchange for their opinion - it seemed like a perfect trade. not only that, but I really appreciate all the things I learned from this site and from reviewing, and being able to give advice that people will actually consider when it comes to new toys.

At the time, I was pretty much awed by Carrie Ann - still am when I end up on one of her reviews - but I eventually figured that she wasn't as much in texture as I was, and I had to keep that in mind when reading her reviews.

Amazing! YAY EDEN!

Blogs is what brought me here and I am thrilled that I did. The community has evolved so much in the last year. It is so awesome how such a diverse group of people can come here and all be amazing friends. I think my fav review I have done was for the Eleven. Such a stunning toy. The review program is an awesome one and always makes me smile.

My first review was published Nov. 8, 2008 and at that time it could take up to two weeks for a review to get published!
When I first joined the Eden Community you still had to submit a review and ask to be promoted by a staff member. The marketing position was about to undergo a significant change and I was promoted by InthePink, (Victoria) herself.
I got into reviewing because I love to share experiences and also like to write. I was nervous and scared but determined to explore this new area for myself.
There were no points and the request guidelines were in flux as Victoria took firm control and made the playing field much more even.
I kept on reviewing because instead of critical nastiness I was met with a firm guiding hand about safety and my reviews were so enthusiastic they were kinda endearing...not very good but sorta cute.
My favorite reviewer was Dame Demi and sadly she has seemingly left us though I hold out hope she will return in the future. CarrieAnn was another reviewer that I really followed in those days...she seemed to review EVERYTHING!!
My most favorite review I ever wrote was the 100th gift review for the Form 3 just because I knew I had finally made it to the 100 club. It was a BIG deal in those days.
OMG my sex life has undergone a major metamorphasis since coming to EF! I have more confidence and can actually ask for what I want and need. I have the freedom to accept "not tonight" and my guys play WITH me with the toys. I have the confidence to buy them toys of their own and they appreciate that. I have a place I can go and ask questions that would normally make me cringe with embarrassment and know that I am probably going to get a clinical and heartfelt answer.
I have never really liked the unfair way people use the review voting platform BUT I do think it's the most fair system I have ever seen. When it was just private votes it was MUCH easier to punish reviewers you felt like hurting because you could vote over and over again AND it was all anonymous.
I would love to see a way to be able to correct typing mistakes in review posts.
I look forward to 100,000 reviews!

My husband was browsing through his Maxim and cam across and ad for Eden displaying Jopen toys, I decided to check out the site. I had already been ordering from Adam and Eve, but when I came here and saw what all there was, I stayed. Now I have been here since July 2011. I am still fairly new, but have manged to become great at it and love to do it.

I stayed and kept reviewing because it was fun. There are so many wonderful people here and everyone was so helpful. I have had the best time doing what I do and I enjoy every minute of it.

When I first started reviewing actually you Sam were my favorite and you still are, but I have many other favorites as well. Including Antipova, ToyTimeTim, Laruen, and the list goes on. All the reviewers here are valued members of the community and it would not be the same with out them.

Oh the best Swell wand by Doc Johnson, I absolutely love this toy and recommend everyone having Sasha in there life. This is my favorite review ever.

The worst well I would have to say was my is the one about the Jumbo life-Saver. I gave horrible and incorrect information on this toy and I apologize about it.

It has affected my sex life because I now know my boy better than ever. I have found what it takes and can achieve squirting all thanks to the things I learned on Eden.

It has affected my life in general by me helping other women achieve the same orgasmic experiences I can. I try to help them become more open minded and enjoy their life.

My favorite part of the review program is getting props for my reviews. I love to look through my comments and see everyone tell me how much they enjoyed reading them.

My least favorite is well nothing, I can not seriously think of anything I dislike.

-What got you involved in reviewing to begin with?

My husband had bought me a handful of toys over the years from various places, but I was never comfortable with them since my experiences with those toys (which were lower quality jelly toys) were subpar. About a year and a half ago, however, I decided to actually involve myself in the selection process when my husband offered to buy some new toys for me. I found a website (a competitor of EF) that emphasized toy material safety on the item descriptions. After trying higher quality toys, I quickly became addicted! My prior reservations and unease about toys were quickly thrown out the window.

I then began searching the Internet, doing price comparisons on toys and reading review after review after review on toys. That's how I found EF. I loved the prices, the broad selection, and (especially) all the reviews available on each product. I made an account and discovered that I could actually apply to be a reviewer right here on the site, despite the fact that I did not have a blog. But as excited as I was about the opportunity to review toys right here on this site, it was actually the community that made me stay. I've met some very nice people on here, and I look forward to reading their posts. And I absolutely love the Eden Gives Back program.

--What got you to keep reviewing?

I have not been able to do active reviewing over the past year due to multiple family issues I've had to deal with, but I do plan to start reviewing again when my life is more ordered and I can find the time.

My motivation for reviewing again stems from the excitement of experiencing new ways to enjoy pleasure. It's like Christmas over and over again to get new toys! Reading reviews detailing someone's experience with a specific toy is very helpful in guiding me to make an educated selection, and I want to provide the same type of guidance and experience to help others, too.

--Who was your favorite reviewer when you started reviewing? Has that person changed?

My very favorite reviewer when I first discovered this site was Carrie Ann. I don't have time to read reviews as much lately, but I'm sad she doesn't write as much anymore.

As I stumbled my way around the site, Lauren was the first person to reach out to me, which I greatly appreciated. Then, Alan & Michele became my mentors, and it was actually Michele who pointed me to the forum and to the Community News page. Since it was the forum and the community that made me stay, I suppose I can thank Michele for getting me officially hooked here!

As I became more familiar with the site and the community, I actually came to have many favorite contributors! I hate naming names because I know I will accidentally leave someone out, but I do want to mention Kindred since he started here at exactly the same time that I did and since he writes such thorough and objective reviews and is also very caring about others. But there are many, MANY great reviewers whose reviews I truly look forward to reading (when I can find the time!) and who are also very caring . . . and who I consider to be friends.

--What was the best review that you've written? How about your worst?

Though I haven't written anything lately, I do put a lot of time and effort into each review that I write because I want to make it as thorough as possible. I never know what tidbit of information will be the deciding factor for someone. (Each person is unique regarding what they find important, so that's why I try to be as thorough as possible--not because I want to be purposefully tedious!) My favorite review is probably my review on Flower Power massage oil. It was the first review I'd written for which I needed to research ingredients, and I put in even more hours than normal for that review (though I later spent almost as much time researching the ingredients for my lube reviews). Mainly, however, I loved being able to make all the geeky references to the 1960s in my Flower Power review!

The review I am least fond of would probably be my first (on the SSA Rainbow G). I have relaxed a bit in my writing style since then and become a bit less formal.

--How has being a reviewer here affected your sex life? How about your life in general?

My sex life has most certainly been improved. I am much less self-conscious now. I had been raised to think sex was dirty, so I used to feel guilty and unladylike for having a high sex drive.

I know my own body much better now and don't hesitate to do what it takes to pleasure it. Sexual release is such a wonderful and healthy way to relieve stress, and I've had plenty of stress in my life lately! I think I deal with it much better now and am less uptight. Being less uptight and less stressed translates to benefits in one's life in general.

--What's been your favorite part of the review program so far? What parts are you not as fond of?

I haven't been able to participate in the review program in a while, but when I can get to a more secure place in my life, I look forward to participating in it again. I have plenty of reviews to catch up on, so it will take me a while.

One thing that I don't understand is the selection process for some of the higher priced items since in the recent past I've seen people with lower ranks review expensive toys (for example, someone whose rank was between 4.0 and 5.0 reviewing a $99 toy). Since the system automatically blocks someone with a lower rank for requesting a higher end product, how does someone with a lower rank manage to review one of the new higher end toys? Did these reviewers bypass the system where one first "grabs" the item and then submits the request electronically and, instead, just sends an e-mail to admin requesting it? I've always wondered about this. I'm not complaining about it, but I am just trying to understand how the request was even submitted. (This would be more in response to a prompt that asked what part of the review system confuses you? )

-What got you involved in reviewing to begin with?
My husband and I were browsing the internet and I came across EF on one of my searches. I decided to check it out, read about the review program and clicked off. We thought it sounded too good to be true and it was a scam. Curiosity got me a bit later and I found some info on the site that seemed to relate to what I was thinking. About a year later, I performed a search and came across the EF site again. I had no memory of checking it out prior, (brain damage in a car wreck), but still we though it was a scam. I decided to try it, however, if it was, big deal. I was only out a couple hours of my time. SURPRISE! I actually got a free toy of my choosing (I chose a 10.00 one that was new and reviewed it, it was published on the site!! And I had points, (got lucky and was double points when I joined this last May), and I could actually use the points for shipping! I must have been hillarious trying to gather the points for my next toy. Thanks to everyone for putting up with me!! I ordered my next oy and then had another free one just assigned for no reason....hmmmm, I was thinking, what is the catch? I received them and then found the forums. The rest is history. This has been the most rewarding experience and opportunity I have ever had. I could write a book, (OH! Article for the Cafe-note to self!!)

-What got you to keep reviewing?
I always have wanted to write and love sex toys and adult products. When I realized EF was a legitimate site and the reviews were actually being used for the products I was addicted! I love trying toys, helping others out with choices and giving advice to keep people from wasting money on useless and cheaply made products. I loved the community, the helpfulness and kindness of those helping me, and the family feeling on the site and forums. The acceptance, openness and friendliness has made this an invaluable experience.

-Who was your favorite reviewer when you started reviewing? Has that person changed?
Only one?.....Nope, can't do it. Lauren, Sam and jR. I read Lauren and Sam's reviews religiously, still do and greatly appreciate JR's help with all my questions and requests on the site!! You guys were wonderful, THANK YOU!!!
I changes in that I do not have a favorite anymore, but a lot of reviewers whose opinions I greatly respect. I know they will go the extra mile and answer my questions, thanks, Lauren I love that set! Thanks P'Gell, I am doing the waist training. Ok, I think I will stop with that while we are all awake.

-What was the best review that you've written? How about your worst?
My worst review was KY Jelly. What was I thinking??? Um, change of subject...My best review, wow, I would say Nexus iStim or the Brocade Corset. I love those products and was very into the writing and detail of those reviews. My most fun was Mama's Peckeroni, I love parties!

-How has being a reviewer here affected your sex life? How about your life in general?
My husband and I were in a rut, and didn't know it-we thought we were very adventurous-but with the selection of products for both of us, getting assigned items we never thought of using and just by being open and writing about experiences has really broadened our minds. We are more open about what we want in and out of bed, more comfortable with our sexuality, it helps to know we aren't f##ked up, there are others out there with great and kinky sex lives also, and just being comfortable with our sexuality. THANK YOU to everyone at EF who has left a compliment about an article, review or my avatars, you have helped build my confidence level. It really made me feel wonderful to know some people do like 41 year old boobs!!lol! The acceptance of everyone has really made us more confident as people.
-What's been your favorite part of the review program so far? What parts are you not as fond of?
My favorite part of the review program is getting the new product in the mail and know it will be one fun night!! I love testing the toys. I also enjoy writing the reviews. I love the mentoring, helping others to enjoy Edens is something I really enjoy and as I have more students, I will get better ideas for my classes and mentoring performance. I am loving that experience, though.
I am not fond of readers who either vote your review down if they do not like the product or vote it down and say great review, ok, what could have I added that would have made it a better review? That is life, there will always be someone who doesn't like the review, but let me know so I can remember to add what they are looking for. It isn't a perfect world, but I still get a bit frustrated.

The forums, community pages, and classifieds are wonderful additions to this site. I have only been here since May, but I have been very active and plan on continuing to do so. I have worked up to over 100 reviews, am in the top 25 reviewers (ranking number) on the site, and have written a couple of articles for the Cafe. I have seven other articles in progress and am working on pictures for my classifieds. For those who complain about a lack of opportunity, there is none. You make your own opportunity on this site. If your numbers are low, get off your butt and do some work, participate!!! I have earned my privileges and look forward to earning more. This is a wonderful community and I want to thank everyone who has made all these opportunities possible.

I just found EF a few months ago. I have bought alot from stores, and from the internet. I was already a sex toy (almost) addict, and didn't know there was a whole place for people like me! I've found EF, and finally don't have to waste money and time to end up frustrated and unhappy. Its also a place where i can share my opinions on topics people around me would find inappropriate, especially coming from me.

My husband and I love sex, and enjoy our sex. We're not angry, and I have nothing to say when my friends want to sit around and talk about how they're unhappy with their sex lives, and down on their partners for not making them happy. I never say anything, because I don't want them to fell like I'm "bragging" about my great sex life. Now I have a place where I can say what I want, how I feel, and what we do, without worrying about gossipers, or people overly offended.

I love writing, and I love sex, sex toys, and my husband. So the reviews are perfect for me as well! I try all kinds of sex toys, even if I know I might end up disapointed, so I have reviews ranging from one type of thing to another. I like offering my personal opinion to others, and reading theirs as well. Its nice to know also that someone of my body shape like this product, so it may fit me okay too.

Overall, EdenFantasy has made my sex life better in little over a month! I'm on here every day, multiple times a day! I check it like I check my facebook now! And I'm thrilled to be part of the last, First 50,000 reviews!

I found EdenFantasys because of my guy, actually. He used to date someone who used this site, and one day when we were talking about my toy collection which, at the time, was so small compared to now, I mentioned wanting more but wishing that there was a way to read LOTS of reviews, similar to something on an electronics website we both frequent. He immediately thought of this site, and I joined that day! This was in August of 2011, and I began reviewing with two of the toys I already had. I realized I could then apply for "advanced", and so I did!

What keeps me reviewing is a combination of things. I love feeling like I am helping others and I love getting comments from other users and reviewers letting me know that what I wrote was helpful to them. I appreciate reviews on toys and products and I want to return the favor! I love the way the site is set up, so that people like myself can get free items to try out and help others make decisions, or use points and gift cards when the budget is running low! This has allowed me to experiment in ways I otherwise couldn't, or might not have wanted to if it came to buying an expensive toy with money that I know I'd have needed for bills (hooray points!)

When I FIRST joined, I think I followed some of the higher ranked reviewers, like Lauren and Sam, but I didn't really have a "favorite", and I still don't. I have a lot of Eden friends, but I don't like to play favorites. Everyone here has always been so awesome and helpful!

I don't think I have a BEST review, but I enjoyed my Chocolate Passion Powder and Bath Kitten Kit reviews the most, and they have some of the most "EU" votes, so I suppose readers will agree? My worst would be my first couple, before I knew what the heck I was doing! I can certainly say that this site has changed me and my life both in and out of the bedroom quite a bit.

I feel like I belong here, I feel like I can help spread the word as well so I frequently talk about this site to friends, family, anyone who will listen. I've been able to introduce things into our sex life that I otherwise never could've or might not have thought of, so it's done that for my sex life! I also love how open I can be about opinions and what's going on, even with my body, and not feel insecure or ashamed! Here, everyone is just so darn nice!

Favorite parts just include the community in general, the points program, the helpfulness of the staff in its entirety. Everything runs smoothly, and I totally love it here! I spend most of my free-time on this site, and I am thankful that my partner supports it 100%, because by "most of my free time", I mean I am on here for hours per day on a regular basis!

HOORAY EDEN!

I don't know about others with lower rank status, but for me I've bought the items that were expensive and did the review on them. I can't grab a toy out of my price range, the system automatically rejects it.

I meant the reviews that state that the item was provided free of charge to the reviewer. If you look at the bottom of the review, you can tell whether the person bought the item him- or herself and just decided to write a review on it (which is not limited by cost since the person bought the item him- or herself), bought it for a discounted price in exchange for a review (which anyone with an account can also do regardless of cost since they are paying for it after applying the discount), or received it free of charge (which should be an item within the price range dictated by rank).

It confuses me when the reviewer has a lower rank (below 5.0) yet is reviewing a more expensive item that was provided free of charge to them. The review guidelines state that rank restricts reviewers to a certain price range. The system won't even allow you to submit a request to review a product if the price range exceeds your limit, so I was just wondering how people go about requesting a more expensive item to review (i.e., an item that exceeds the allowable price range for their rank). I assume that when a new product comes out and EF wants to first test the item before stocking it, people (regardless of their rank) can perhaps send an e-mail to admin asking if they can review it, but I'm not certain. I'm just curious to learn how that works because it could prove useful for me to know in the future (and useful for someone else, too). I know I would certainly appreciate knowing how to request the higher priced items!

I found Eden Fantasys one day in the summer of of 2009. I had had my first child, became a stay at home mom, and for the first time didn't have my own money to buy sex toys. While I was lucky to be with a man who, despite my refusal to get married, actually wanted me to stay home and raise our child. I hated not working and hated not being able to buy "frivolous" things like sex toys. All that said, I finally got over my guilt enough to ask him to buy me a dildo. I had been having fantasies about double penetration, but knowing my man would never agree to a MMF threesome, I asked him to compromise and buy me a realistic dildo. He readily agreed and just asked that I find one for under $50. My online search lead me to EF, where I was delighted to see such a big beautiful cock (Adam's Pleasureskin Cock) for such a low price. I was also delighted to see so much information on the toys and reviews by REAL people who told you whether it was great or if it was crap and not worth your money. Then I saw on the home page "Free sex Toys". I was astounded! I signed up immediately and had so much fun writing my first review.

Looking back at that first review, I actually cringe a little bit reading it. It read almost like erotica and a little bit like a sales pitch. Thankfully, a kind reviewer(Oggins is her name. At the time she was a regular reviewer, but she hasn't posted one since Jan. 2010) gave me some tips. The tip that helped me the most and one I give to my friends who are just starting out is "Read other people's reviews, and read A LOT of them!" I was quickly able to see what was expected by reading people's reviews that had been here awhile. I could also see what made the difference between a "somewhat useful" review and a "useful" or "extremely useful" review. However, this was before your votes were made public to discourage "down-voting" ;, so I was still getting a few "not useful at all" votes regardless of how much my writing improved.

I learned so much in my first few months on EF. I had no idea about material safety, lube compatibility, and how porous my new rubber friend "Adam" was and what that meant. I was so amazed and excited that I spouted off to any one who would listen, educating them and urging them to visit EF. Back then, my son was just a baby, so I had a lot more down time for my new EF obsession, and obsession it was! I was on there all day long. Back then, there weren't a gazillions active reviewers so it was easy to keep up. I read EVERY single new review and back read EVERY review that all my favorite reviewers ever wrote. My very first favorite reviewers were male, because there were so few on here. Jimbo Jones and Scott A were my authority on all things anal and male. My man was JUST getting interested in a little anal play, so I was always searching for new things to show him. I was getting more enthusiastic about anal as well, so I eagerly awaited each new review from one of these guys. Carrie Ann was and still is, someone who's opinion I trust and I LOVED seeing new reviews by her. Sir was also one that I eagerly anticipated seeing reviews from. To this day they are the only reviewers I have set up to get an email alert when they post something new.

I wrote my first two reviews and submitted my request for Advanced Reviewer. I actually had to wait an entire week, and was unable to get all five votes needed. Can you believe that? Nowadays, unless you are HORRIBLE, you will get voted in the very same day, or even the same hour! So I worked a little harder on my third review and submitted another request. This time I was voted in within a day or two. I was so proud of myself and honestly felt like I had earned it.

Oh how things have changed! Not only has my down time SEVERELY cut into my EF time, but we have had an EXPLOSION of new reviewers. I do good to glance at all the new reviews that are posted daily, let alone read and vote and comment on them all! The review standards have changed as well. Back when I started, some of the reviewers were VERY particular about how a review was written, and commented and voted accordingly. I look back at some of my reviews from that time and remember how I sweated about EVERY single detail, and how it went from being fun to being a tedious chore. Thankfully, Carrie Ann and a few others posted about this and encouraged us to not focus on EVERY single detail as much as the important things such as "How did this product work for YOU?" I felt so relieved that I didn't have to pull out my measuring tape and list EVERY SINGLE measurement. I could focus on my overall opinion of the general size, shape, and function. My writing got easier and more fun after that.

I love EF. I came for the cheap prices and free toys, and stayed for the community. Even though I'm not as active as I once was, I still get excited about new products coming out, new parties and clubs, even if I can't attend them like I used to. Now with EF on Facebook, I get to keep up on the important developments even when I only have a few minutes here or there.

What would I change? I like to see the "ranking system" tweaked a bit. I have been at a rank of 6 for almost the entire time I've been on EF. Even when I was at my most active, I never got above a 6.2. It's not a HUGE deal to me. I'm thankful just to get to review toys for free. I am still blown away every time I submit my order for assignment, and am grateful whether it's a cheap porn DVD or a $40 vibe. Still, I would like to see the higher priced items get rotated. I understand wanting to make sure they get a thorough review on something that costs a lot, but why not have a rotating list or something to give more people a shot. Say you are going to give out 2 We-vibe 3's as an example. Why not give one to some with a high rank, and one to some one who is say a 6 or 7. Some one who can give a different perspective from some one who has never had a luxury toy before?

IDK. I hate to sound like I'm whining. Like I said, I have always been grateful to EF and anything that they have given me. The generous Eden Point Program, all the contests, all the ways you can earn gift cards, and all the incredible discounts and deals that go on every single week are INSANE! If you are patient and willing to work a little bit, it's possible to get just about anything this site has to offer for free or really cheap at some point. Just this past couple of months I have gotten two expensive toys I never thought I would be able to afford. I got the Mystic Wand for a little over $20 during the Facebook Friends promo. Then, incredibly and unbelievably, Tristan Taormino picked my question for first place after her community interview and I won the Njoy Pure Wand! So honestly, I have nothing to complain about. I have won a few gift cards over the years, and a few prizes. This place is awesome. Before EF I had NEVER won ANYTHING in my life! So I'm a happy camper!

I only found Eden at the end of September 2011 and I must say that in two short months my life has totally changed. I sometimes look back at think of my life as "Before Eden" and then "After Eden".

Pardon me if I take the time to write - a lot. As in - go ahead - grab that fresh cup of coffee or cold soda now cause you may be sitting here for a bit if you read this whole thing.

I'm 51 years old - been married 32 years to the only guy I ever dated, kissed or had sex with. We've had a good 32 years - off an on - largely due to our religious beliefs and our commitment to each other. We figured our options were "divorce..no. Murder? possibly".

Like many people our age - our sex life was "ok". It wasn't great and passionate - after all - we're "oldies" - right? We had our "aaaahhhh" moments but our sex life tended to be feast or famine. A feast might be twice a week (three times if lucky) and famine could be weeks on end - even a couple of months.

My daughter told me about Eden shortly after my husband and I decided to try the Butterfly Kiss off another site which had a catalog we'd received in the mail (which was mostly household products with 4 pages of sex toys).

When we found the Eden site, my husband and I looked at lots of toys and started buying some. I did my first review - signed up for a mentor because I wanted to be able to earn FREE toys (who doesn't?) and it just went from there.

One of the things that worked out well was that I was able to earn a LOT of gift cards from doing writing for the Eden Lit Club Blog and submitting articles to Eden Cafe. I took those cards, bought toys that didn't have video reviews (after getting permission to do them) and then started doing video reviews - thus earning me MORE gift cards. I think the highest I've had in gift cards at any one time was $205 or something like that (I spent them ALL in the last week or so).

There have been so many benefits to my life - and to our life as a couple - that I want to share them here.

First of all - our sex life has gone through the roof. A famine is now about 3 days and we're much more open with each other and being able to say "I need sex".

Secondly - our communication skills about sex toys, sex and even life in general has also improved. Recently hubby expressed an interest in an anal probe to help him when we make love. He never would have felt comfortable doing that before and I would have been shocked if he had expressed it. But now we can talk better about what we like and don't like because we're trying new things - whether it is positions or toys or whatever.

Our marriage has gone from being mostly "good" to "great" and sometimes "really rocking".

But something else has happened - to me - inside.

You see, I'm size 22/24 and wear a 44D bra. As my husband said once when we were newlyweds (and he didn't understand what tact was) - "That dress is not right for you 'cause you're built strong and sturdy like an ox and that dress is sexy".

That's ok everyone - no rotten tomatoes please. He's grown up and learned a lot.

But because my mom had always picked out my clothes up until I went away to college (I had no say in them even though I tried) - I never knew what looked good on me since she bought things in her styles and colors.

Then I got married - and the one time I tried to look sexy - I was told that it didn't look good.

Basically - I gave up. Why bother trying to be pretty if it wasn't possible...know what I mean?

Much to my regret now - I often went bra-less because I hated the feel of them and why bother if you can't look good? I wore old "granny-style" underwear as my husband called them and baggy pants and loose tops.

About a month ago - I started tossing all my old bras and got some BEAUTIFUL ones that are so pretty. I got some silky underwear with bows and stuff and I bought some really pretty lingerie. I even went to a competitor's website (Torrid) to find plus size stuff because I didn't think Eden had stuff that would fit me (I'm about to review some stuff that DOES fit me and I'm now sold on Eden for lingerie if they'll get more stuff in for my size).

My husband was pleasantly shocked this weekend when I not only went in for a professional haircut instead of trying to hack at it myself - BUT - I also had them do highlights in my hair also! That's right - I told him "no more self-dying my hair - you like it dyed...then its gonna be done at the hair salon". He is so happy.

You see - I finally feel worthy of spending money on me - like I'm worth something.

Thank you Eden for all you've done for me. The community is awesome and I've connected with some folks who've helped me believe in myself even more. The feedback on my reviews is so appreciated and I think I'm becoming a better reviewer thanks to all of your help and comments.

So there once was my life before Eden - it was "vanilla" - probably some sort of "sugar-free" vanilla cause I didn't like myself or believe I deserved nice things.

Now its becoming more of a fudge swirl.

Oh - one last quick story before I quit. When I joined the descriptive review program - I shared all the things I liked/didn't like and basically said about us, "We're not into pain". You can imagine my shock/surprise when the first items I get offered are.....TWO FLOGGERS.

Of course we took them and reviewed them (gotta do the video reviews this week).

But I think of the vanilla couple we were pre-Eden and who we are now. Is it any wonder we're talking about looking at paddles too?

I live in the UK, and I had done a few reviews for a UK sex toy site when they emailed me and asked if they could send me a free product to review. It was the first time I got something for reviewing besides the warm fuzzy feeling, and I loved it! After I'd done a lot of reviews for them, I started a sex toy blog, and following other bloggers, and was surprised to see that Eden actually sent review products overseas. I had never even considered shopping from US sites because of the prohibitive shipping costs.

I found the forums here very intimidating, because they're just so huge and spread out over so many categories. Also, people getting points for starting discussions means there are far more discussions that wouldn't exist otherwise, and I'm afraid that can turn people off. I'd like to see the points adjusted so that you get more for contributing to existing discussions and less for starting new ones, because I think fewer, but longer threads make for better forums.

As for the reviews, I agree with others that it can be hard to find a product to review. Though adding lingerie to the possibilities has certainly helped. Other than that, I like how structured it is, I LOVE the buyout program, and I especially like that if I have a review item in an order, I don't have to pay the shipping costs. I save up my points and the gift cards I get from Eden Cafe articles to make a big toy order when it's time to get a review product, and all my shipping fears are gone. I'm still hesitant about lingerie, since I know I can't affordably return it if it doesn't fit, but I'm willing to take that chance on some pieces.

I've reviewed for two UK toy sites, plus Eden, and though I will always have a strong loyalty to my favourite UK site, I do think the review program is set up better here at Eden, and I'm glad that I helped contribute to 50,000 reviews.

This post makes me so happy! Sex toys get such a bad rap as being something only "bad" people use. And sure, plenty of us here on the site are promiscuous or practice what would be considered by some "immoral" lifestyles. But the toys are just tools, and can give just as much pleasure in the hands of a monogamous couple!

I LOVE that you have the confidence to spend money on yourself now, as well as that you and your husband are able to talk about sex and experiment and make pleasuring each other a priority. That's wonderful, and I wish you all the happiness in the world for the next 30 years and beyond!
