I'd really like to see what a Friday night party would be like. I don't know that the meat of the party would be much different, but the after-party would likely last much later since the majority of people wouldn't have to get up for work the next day. As for which of the two possible Friday dates, I'd suggest the 24th, because I imagine there will be a fair number of people traveling for Independence Day (although I could be wrong on that).

As a West Coaster, I'm not sure the timing of the party matters that much. It will be during dinner or dinner prep regardless of whether it starts at 7 or 8 EDT.
