Hi Petite Valentine! The stories are all steampunk and all written around the concept of imaginative sex toys and devices that might have--should have been invented and perhaps would have been invented in a parallel universe.

Each story has ... more
Speaking of the fem dom stories, I loved the pirate story "Mutiny on the Danika Blue." I was thinking perhaps it might be a pirate ravishment story and it was, but more in reverse! She did the ravishing and he was helpless to resist her... all the while the rest of the ship believed she belonged to him!

My usual science advisor is my husband of 14 years, who is is a chemist by training and a computer programmer by inclination.

I have a definite thing for brainy men.

Hi Laurel and Liz! I meant to be here sooner, but got distracted by the All Star Game.

Not to be left out of the raising-boys discussion, my two are all grown up, and now I'm super-thrilled to have a five-year-old granddaughter (who can really pack away the mac-and-cheese.)

Clockwork?

Does that mean something different than the insides (gears) of a machine?

So glad you could join us! Loved "The Succubus!"

Hi Antipova. "Deviant Devices" was definitely a cool story. It's by Kannan Feng. Another very cool clockwork story was "Infernal Machine," which you may not have gotten to yet. And, of course, "Lucifer Einstein" is another great clockwork story!

Which reminds me of YOUR story, "Fog, Flight and Moonlight" in Steamlust, coming out in October. Wonderful, wonderful story of flying ships and a fabulous heroine who knows how to get her man.

Ha! I was just thinking that girls are just as capable of eating you out of house and home. My 13 year old will happily eat an entire pizza herself.

Oh, my god, didn't you just? That's by Poe von Page. That story definitely got me wet.

Nope that's exactly what it means. In many stories for this genre you have complex machines (like automatons or basically Victorian-era robots) that are operated with extensive clockworks....rather than the silicon chips and innards of today's computers and robots.

Clockwork does mean the gears inside machines like clocks and other wind-up affairs, but it's come to have more significance than that. The visual effect of mighty cogwheels has a sexual resonance, which makes sense when you think of those cogs pushing into the spaces on other cogwheels as they turn, and the power they exert.

Forgive my late arrival and I'm sorry not to have read the thread up to this point. Have you talked at all about my favorite story, Dr. Watson Makes a House Call? I always knew he had more going on than Holmes.
