For those who have read the book(s)--and to tantalize those who haven't--what gave you the biggest, well, thrill? The relationship parts? The punishments? The pony training? Something else entirely?

I did too! That was one of my favorite parts of the last meeting.

And hello! How are you this evening?

So I'm asking all of you who have read it...Is it worth continuing the story? Did you like it more, ... more
I've read both and really got pulled into Safe Word - I think you'll like it.

I really enjoyed the extra info that Sacchi brought to the meetings as well. I wish I could have been there for the actual meeting instead of reading it later.

Since we discussing a sequel, here's Molly's take on that. (Molly gave me all these quotes ahead of time, so I don;t have to do much at all.)

On Sequels and Series: When I finished Carrie's Story, I was sure it was a total fluke. I'll never write another one, I remember proclaiming. And then, quite suddenly, there was Safe Word, my favorite of all my novels, like a child you despair of conceiving and then miraculously find yourself pregnant with.

Sequels and series are, of course, almost obligatory in my other genre, romance fiction, though there, perversely, I've never been able to pull one off. But with Carrie it was easy. I'd gotten her into such a mess of trouble in the first book, I figured I needed to get her out again. And then I found myself genuinely curious about the other characters I'd dreamed up. Jonathan was pretty much a mystery man in Carrie's Story; in Safe Word it was great to hear him speak from the depths of his moody, control freak self. And of course there's Kate, the other, older, woman; I love that she wins out by being true to herself even if it means risking losing Jonathan.

I liked Safe Word more, only because I was fascinated by Jonathan and Carrie's relationship and I wanted more of them together. Of course, at the end of Carrie's Story, they're split up, and most of Carrie's Story is about him getting ready to pawn her off on someone else at the auction, lol.

But Safe Word really uncovers all these amazing new layers to their relationship. I was like a junkie reading it. I got all that new insight into Jonathan, which I loved.

Hi Liz. Forgive me for multitasking. I've got a little presentation to put together for work this evening, but the NRBC is soooo much more fun. I've got an eye on both. Now that I'm here, my spirit has picked up. Nothing like thinking about erotica while writing boring copy...

Well now you've piqued my interest. I have to say that what I liked best about the first book was the personalities and relationships.

Ha Laurel! I wanted to smack him too! I found the pony play interesting, but not my personal cuppa. Definitely interesting to read about!

For me it was the relationship parts. I'm not into pony play, or pet play, or switching, but when Molly writes it, it's really hot. And for me, it's just because I'm 100% drawn into the relationship dynamics.

I will go on and on about Jonathan all night I'm sure. I just fell hard for that man, and he was a mystery I wanted to understand. Not to post any spoilers, but I cried at the end of Safe Word, I was so disappointed. Well, the ending was bittersweet.

I literally begged Molly to write another one. I wanted to know where Jonathan ended up after Safe Word ends.

Thanks Molly! I'm doing okay. It was just really frightening at the time. And it still hurts a bit.

I have to admit that after a certain point I was rooting for Carrie to run off with Annie, the horse trainer, and I was a bit disappointed when she didn't. (I guess that's a spoiler of sorts, but we can't very well say much about the book without giving things away, so we might as well throw caution to the winds.)

Yes, I love the relationships in erotica and you're right about the developing relationship making it interesting. Unexpected things popping into the story too!

I absolutely loved the pony play in Safe Word. It made me obsessed with pony play for awhile.

So, what is "pony play"? I saw something on CSI once, but I doubt that was very accurate.

Wonderfully put: "like a child you despair of conceiving and then miraculously find yourself pregnant with." I really understand that feeling.

The second book is very much about the relationships and personalities. Unlike Carrie's Story, Safe Word is told from the perspective of both characters.

This also shines light on a lot of what went on in the first book. It's just...a wonderful reward to read Safe Word, especially if you liked Carrie's Story on it's own. Because it's just...more.

So funny, I was half expecting something to happen with them, and wishing that Annie would...uh well...

Hi folks,

Just got here. Haven't read many of the posts except for the poor person with periocarditis -- anybody have any news of how she's faring?

Anyway, thanks so much for your interest in the Carrie books.

I like well developed characters and relationships. If it's just sex without any real emotional interaction, it doesn't do a thing for me.
