And kink, of course. And I've only ever published one short story -- LILITH SCHOOLED TO BRIDLE, or something like that. It's in a Mammoth anthology and it's a Victorian pony fantasy. Fun. And I wrote it really fast.

Carrie helped me see that heroines don't need to take themselves entirely seriously. Which is a lovely revelation. Someone so layered, in a world so textured, was a pleasure to read.

Good night, and thanks to all for a discussion nearly as rousing as the book! Feel free to keep on, though, if you like. I'm still around.

I have to sign off. Long day for me. How often do these book chats take place? I really enjoyed it.

Every two weeks, generally. Three weeks, this time, probably because of Labor Day.

Melissa, we've been discussing Molly Weatherfield's Safe Word, the sequel to her Carrie's Story. You can scroll back to see the whole thing, but most of us are ready now for a post-coital...well, post-discussion--nap.

I've gotta go too. Thanks so much. What a privileged position I have, with such incredibly astute and appreciative readers.

Night all.

And thanks to Eden, Cleis, and Sacchi.

There's a lot of new bdsm fiction, but not a lot that I'd call literature. The Carrie books are right up there. The combination of wonderful writing, complex characters, and questions raised and not entirely answered, I think is what does it. At least some of it.
