Yeah their C.O's are pretty vigilant about what they can and can't have. We send them condoms to keep the sand out of their rifles and we have gotten frowns before lol.

I think so. I really admire their dedication to authenticity, but it can be so much fun to re-interpret Shakespeare.

Another movie I really liked was 10 Things I Hate About You, which was a modern version of Taming of the Shrew.
Well, anything with Heath was good for me

That was a very interesting movie. I thought it was funny the way they wrote "longsword" on the guns and such, so that the props would fit the words spoken.

I am fans of both as long as they are well written. Generally parodies aren't as well written as this one was though. But I adore historical erotica.

Definitely erotica more than parodies here

Me too. I guess it's kind of a cult classic for me now.

I consider myself to still be very new to the field of erotica, though I have a long history of reading historicals.

With both, some books/stories I like, some I love, and some make me yawn.

Before we get too far away from wondering what Mitzi will do next, I asked that very thing--but Brenda clearly has more information than I was able to get, which was pretty much none.

3. Do you have a yen to give other classics a similar treatment? The Brontes come to mind. I've always thought Lorna Doone had some possibilities, too, but I don't suppose many folks these days are familiar with that book.

Mitzi: It's quite possible I might do something else along these lines. I
think it's a testament to these great authors of the past that we continue to be interested in their works. So keep an eye out, since you never know what else I've got up my sleeve!

I love historical fiction too. Though I'm more of a Gone with the Wind type fan where that is concerned. Could you imagine undertaking that one as a porn parody?

I do and I would too! Maybe we can do some sort of vid scene from it via some vid conferencing program or something? Or just do it in voice and record it?
I'd love to see video of people dressed up in BDSM gear performing Shakespeare!

That's one I just couldn't dig at all. It seemed do ridiculous to me but perhaps if I were to watch it a second time I'd see it in a different light. The soundtrack is amazing though.

That would be awesome! The possibilities are endless. And, yes, I agree it is a testament to those authors that we still have interest in what they wrote.

It must be very hard to write a parody, porn or not, of a classic. Staying true to the story but adding something to it without taking away from it.

Maybe Mitzi could write a BDSM version of Taming of the Shrew. One where Katherine becomes a willing submissive to dominant Petruchio. Or maybe, she could change it up a bit and have "the shrew" win. I could definitely see Katherine as a dominatrix.

I definitely like historical parodies and satire, but I think this might be the first historical erotica I've come across (or really looked into, at least).

I love historical fiction, both the reading and the writing of it, and if it's erotic, all the better.

Mitzi edited an erotic historical anthology with a twist a while back: imagined stories about historical figures. Wait, I need to look up the title--I know I suggested most of the subtitle, Sexy Tales of Legendary Lovers--well, I'll check and post again in a minute. My story was about Marlene Dietrich entertaining the Allied troops during the battle of the Bulge in WWII. "Dietrich Wears Army Boots."
