A strong setting really helps to set the stage for a story, especially a longer one. Being able to immerse oneself in a well-developed world is essential for fantasizing.

I love Violet Blue's books. I haven't read any Tristan Taormino, yet.

When it comes to paranormal and fairy stale stories, I like to get a good chuck of setting in order to be immersed in that created world when the eroticism begins.

Mitzi told me a few days ago that: "With Red Velvet and Absinthe, I wanted to pay homage to the Gothic tradition, which I've been a huge fan of since childhood. It was my goal to offer atmospheric and steamy stories that draw on this rich literary tradition and, in the interim, remind readers exactly where the paranormal romance genre really came from."

It just now occurred to me that atmospheric and steamy go together beautifully, along with misty. Steamy can be an atmosphere all by itself.

I agree with this, a lot of the stories stepped out of the box, if not all, rather than sticking to the typical/stereotype of what is Gothic.
