I think that's why erotica is so powerful-- if you connect with a story it can really stay with you.

Ha! You joke, but this is the perfect book for a sort of 'mainstream' audience, because it's about romance and (fairly conventional) sexual couplings, compared to Rachel's other anthologies.

I think my favorite story from BLR was Boiled Peas. I don't think they even got past kissing, but the story was so sweet.

I have to agree with this, but then 'mainstream' almost sounds like it's a bad thing. Seriously, the stories are much more fun as a whole, than in some other collections where only a handful were special enough to really pop from the rest. I mean, I was usually able to pinpoint one or two or my favorites while still enjoying the rest, but this was is special. I suppose that Rachel was able to have la crème de la crème of more regular romance and set up this anthology.

I haven't read all of either book, but I've been dipping into my contributor's copy of BLR. My impression is that last year's edition (2010) had more erotic content--my own story that year certainly did--while this year's leans more toward romantic goodness.

Hi Sacchi Green! I loved your story "The Gift." I didn't read last year's edition, but that's interesting that one year would be more erotic and the next be more romantic-- especially when both editions were edited by Radclyffe.

I think that it is more about making an impact in somebodies life. The stories were based around lesbian couples but it was more about what was going on mentally for the characters than anything that happened physically.

Why is it that every time we come to these meetings we wind up with something else on our WishList? . We've been lurking just to see what others had to say about it, and now Passion's on our list.

I have to agree with you on that one. I'm both a writer and an editor, so I know how hard it is to have a themed anthology that doesn't feel like it's unbalanced in terms of quality of stories and that the stories are varied enough to feel fresh. I read Passion and felt like each story was just as good as the next. I really loved it.

Tis true, when I think of Rachel's anthologies my mind immediately goes to the topping and bottoming books, the spanking...

You know, I also think that Passion is especially good for almost desesperately single women who might need to be reminded that romance still exists, because the people in those stories, they sound real, even if the settings can be a little farfetched. The people were eadearing and in some stories, I'd really like to be in those situations, like 'An Easy Guy to Lean On', which is a very cute story.

Oh one thing that I actually noticed in this book is the mention of darker skin colors. In more than one stories even, and I must give it a bonus for that one.

I do like anthologies that are representative of a wide range of people. I noticed the older protagonists in several stories myself.
