Reviewers Spotlight - February 2nd @ 8pm EST: darthkitt3n and Coralbell!

That's cute! My kitties are always all like, "OMG look what I found!" with their toys. I have another cat that I had to leave with my parents when I moved out, because they made him an outside cat, and he brings dead rabbits and mice to the front door to proudly show my mom. less

I'm hoping I do too! It's fun to get to try out all sorts of new things and share my experience with others. Reviewing here has actually helped me to make more well-informed purchases elsewhere, too. I read consumer reviews and safety reviews on cars before I decided what kind I wanted to really look at. less

I'll stick around for a while, but then I have to go study for a Spanish test. I took French my whole life, and now I'm taking Intro to Spanish and it's a lot harder than I thought it would be! Whenever I don't know a word I just say a French word in a Spanish sounding accent lol it's usually wrong, but in come cases it's actually right. less

darthkitt3n is one of our earliest reviewers, joining us way back in 2007. In that time, she's become a mentor and completed over 100 reviews!

"I first started reviewing back in 2007. I had first heard about the program from simply shopping the site. I thought the idea of writing about toys in exchange for them was kind of neat. I'd have to say, I was terrible at reviewing when I first started. Back then, you just emailed your review to EdenFantasys and really had no feedback from customers or other reviewers as to how your review looked or how informative it was. I wasn't sure what my writing style was or what was appropriate, so I just judged it by what everyone else's reviews looked like. Eventually, when more and more users started reviewing
and the review program became modified, it was easier for me to provide as useful of a review as possible, since I got more useful feedback. My advice for new reviewers just starting out is really to find your writing style and run with it. Writing in a way that isn't comfortable to you will never feel right and can be easily noticed by your readers. I also advise new reviewers to really listen to reader feedback. If people have questions about your toy, answer them and edit your review if possible. If people make helpful suggestions, try them out in your next review."

Coralbell hasn't been here quite as long, but has still been around for a good while. She's just about to publish her 100th review, and is an active member of the community.

"I found EdenFantasys when I was looking for my very first toy. I joined the same month I started having sex, so I was really exploring and learning about my body and my sexuality at that time. Eden was a great resource for information, and of course for toys, and has had a huge impact on my sex life.

At first, I wasn't planning on getting involved in reviewing, and just wanted to buy a toy or two. The more I browsed the site and read reviews and posts, the more involved I became. I decided to become a reviewer mainly because I love sharing my opinions and helping people find things that work for them. I'm always recommending things to friends, and I'd written some online reviews for other products, like makeup. Being able to actually get free things sent to me in exchange for a review seemed like an awesome deal.

As a total newbie to toys, I was nervous about writing my first review. I joined shortly after the mentor program started, so luckily Kynky Kytty was there to guide me through it. The most challenging review I've ever written was probably the first one I wrote without my mentor. The toy was simpler than the others I had reviewed and didn't have a lot of features, so I struggled to come up with enough things to say about it without help.

I find it easiest to write about products I either love or hate, and it can be hard for me to review things I don't have a strong opinion on. I also find Descriptive Reviews more challenging than regular reviews, since it can be difficult for me to be objective about things that are so personal.

I would definitely recommend that new reviewers join a class. Even if you think you don't really need to, I guarantee there will be at least one useful thing you take from it. Read as many reviews as possible, so you can learn from them. When writing reviews, remember to not only describe the product, but also explain how well it works for you, and why. I also recommend getting involved in the forums and the community. There are so many friendly, funny, interesting people here, and I've learned a lot from them. Don't be afraid to ask questions! "
