Sorry I am a little late on the upkeep. I was wondering about selecting a mentor and classes. What does that mean? I know this has probably been answered but the words are starting to run together. I just got out of class.

So how does Eden feel about reviewers with disabilities? I know I don't have a standard disability, but I am disabled. I don't think it will affect my work here all that much, except for when my anxiety and depression are being especially difficult. And because I don't have to follow any kind of daily schedule, my sleep disorder shouldn't be a problem.

But I was just wondering what will happen when the monsters on my back do act up as they inevitably will?

Ah, kid memories. (I'm sorry, you said rubber, not gasoline, I'm losing track) I used to mix up the smell of gasoline and BB Bats banana taffy, because my friends and I got tar all over ourselves and our suits in Lake Michigan as kids and their father had to wash us with gas (it was a long time ago, when people did thigns like that, wash kids in gasoline) and he gave us B B Bats to keep us from crying.

OT huh?

Good night, JR.

I can't think of a topic right now, but I might if I think about it.

Here's a really good thread about the mentor program: link

many of us have disabilitys or medical problems of various sorts, you can decline any review offered if you need to, and if something happens that makes you not able to reach your deadline, you can contact JR about it. Like right now with the death in my family I won't be able to make the 3 week deadline for my latest review so I just told JR about it.

That means that you would pick a reviewer to help you with your reviews and everything else around the site that you might have questions with. You'd look at the list of available mentors and apply to one that looks like they'd mesh well with you and what you hope to accomplish.

I love my mentor and highly recommend finding one that's right for you.

If you are not able to turn in a review on time, simply email JR and let him know. EF is extremely understanding and accommodating.

Hon, I just try to keep up and the reviewing actually sometimes keeps my mind off of chronic pain and fits of the "monsters" as you say. I know I have to finish certain reviews (when they are assigned) so it often keeps me going and has actually forced me to drag my ass out of bed!

I'd say take your time in the beginning. Stick with only the basic review program, until you get your sea legs and see how you weather a crisis. That's what I did. I didn't even apply for Advanced Reviewer until I had done 8 reviews and had been here 2 months. For one reason, I wanted to see how I would do, and I'm doing pretty well. It's a "do what you can when you can" program.

I think that if a task is getting the best of you, if you email someone they will give you a few days to get things right. Everyone has problems and they all get in our way sometimes.

Thanks Kindred and Sam. That's really good to know. I've had a lot of issues in my past with workplaces, classes and even social groups not being willing to put up with someone who has problems.

I have weeded most of those out of my life now, its just better for my own mental and physical health to not have that stress on top of everything else.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. It's good advice. And I am trying to sort of take things slow. Though things have sort of sped up lately.

Everybody has demons. The nice thing about Eden is the flexibility. I often write reviews really early in the morning, after My Man has left and the kids are sleeping. I now put them on Word, so I can stop if I need to. It's less stressful than writing them ON the site. BUT, the good thing about writing them on the site, proper, (like the Extended Review, which I still use sometimes) is that I am pretty much forced to finish it. I sometimes need to be challenged to keep on going. Its an incentive to me.

I have only been here a few months, but I think of this place and people in it like a family now, there are a lot of great supportive people out there. The admins are always welcoming and will answer any question you have, and understanding when things come up or happen.

Yeah, I gave up on having a job years ago. My therapist says I should apply for disability, but I absolutely refuse to be a leech on society. Fortunately, my husband is willing to support me financially. And I am now pretty much a hermit. I have a very small group of friends in real life, but they are all really good friends.

I'm gonna go check on my little one. I'll talk to y'all later or tomorrow. The Old Man will be home soon, too.

Bye Bye, people.
