Labor regulation at ASLAN

Increasingly more and more companies making sex toys and gear are working on going green. This means trying to curtail wasteful production practices, using more environmentally-friend ly materials in their production, etc.

The new emphasis on caring for our environment is wonderful, but I am always left wondering about the people living in that environment. What stance does ASLAN take on regulation of the labor that produces their products? By this I mean to ask how involved the brains behind ASLAN are with the brawn that procure leather and other materials, as well as assembles them. Where are your products made, and how does ASLAN Leather work to ensure appropriate working conditions and pay?

Thank you for reading!

ASLAN Leather products are Canadian made and produced in the ASLAN Leather studio under the direction of Carrie Gray in Toronto Ontario. Our staff are very connected to the products we produce and each individual staff member brings their own unique brand creativity and Kink to the work environment, on our present production team we have Aaron a musician who is a member of a successful industrial band, Debbie who is also a talented self employed shiatsu therapist, Jordan who is also a carpenter and an ASLAN model, Chandra a very skilled seamstress who loves to make bags as well, Meghan a budding corset maker and a recent graduate of a local college theater program and our office admin Christine who makes beautiful jewelry and is a proud mom if two lovely girls. They receive an hourly wage well above minimum and enjoy fair employment terms with flexible hours and paid sick days.
At ASLAN Leather we are very concerned about our environmental foot print and use very environmentally conscious production practices. We use a number of environmentally friendly materials and offer a line of products made from a form of synthetic leather that are completely vegan and green.

Do you train new leather workers? I've heard that leather work can tear through hands pretty quickly. Most of the leatherworkers I know who make at least one piece a week are suffering from crippling carpel tunnel.

Carpel Tunnel is generally associated with leather braiding and Whipmaking, our regular production does not include those items. There is little chancs for repetetive strain injuries in the ASLAN production shop because the job varies daily.

I'm very excited to hear that your products are made in Canada where labor is quite strictly regulated and that your workers get paid sick days. It's just one more reason why I love your stuff and you company

Thank you for answering! This kind of thing is always really reassuring to hear. I'm going to recommend your products that much more adamently to my friends now that I know your laborers are treated well!
